[ISULIA ARCHIVES] Le rap au filtre de ses générations

DJ depuis 12 ans et créateur de Groove Collaborative. Passionné par la culturesoundsystem anglaise, ce DJ hyperactif derrière les platines s'amuse à fusionner avec créativité des basses, les rythmiques 2step et caler des backspins de façon irraisonnable.

We are pleased to unveil one track of the upcoming release of Lisbon-based @bleiddd on @discos_extendes.

BLEID is Mariana Freitas, DJ and producer, and one of the faces of the new generation of Portuguese club music. Together with Bruno Gonçalves and Inês Coutinho, they share part of the management and artistic direction of the cultural association “Planeta Manas”, the community radio “Rádio Quântica” and the queer rave “mina”.

'Subliminal' is very clearly a club record. A series of tracks in the 150/160 BPM range, anchored in a 4/4 rhythm, full throttle. Containing very few melodic elements, this is an EP anchored in the strength of rhythm. On the one hand, there is a certain familiarity with Chicago Footwork, mainly in the prevalence of certain rhythmic elements such as snare drums and the use of sliced vocal samples. The track “Get Down” is driven by voice samples and their multiple slices, combined with intricate rhythmic patterns. Footwork madness in full force.

Néanmoins ils doivent faire face à un secteur de plus en plus concurrentiel et concentré. Cette discussion permettra d’avoir un aperçu des choix opérés par différents acteurs en matière de positionnement éditorial, de spectre d’activités et évidemment de modèles économiques.

[ISULIA ARCHIVES] L'avenir des médias culturels, un combat de tous les jours

Espace de rencontre privilégié pour la jeunesse, lieu d’émulation et d’exploration artistique : les festivals représentent un terrain de jeu idéal pour les nouvelles générations. 

Avec plus de 7000 d’entre eux recensés en 2022, ils n’ont jamais été aussi nombreux en France. Cette « festivalisation » de la culture cristallise les attentes de publics qui y retrouvent des modes de découvertes artistiques alternatifs à ceux proposés par les algorithmes, tout en expérimentant d’autres formes de socialisation. 

Cet intérêt croissant des plus jeunes n’est pas sans susciter l’appétit de certains acteurs qui y voient des opportunités économiques, oubliant parfois le rôle social et culturel de tels objets.

Ця подкаст-серія висвітлить історію української незалежної музичної сцени через концепцію культурної пам’яті як джерела знань про себе самих. Memory Leaks досліджує розвиток сцени, простежуючи, як авангард домашніх студій 90-х перетворився на електронні крос-жанрові експерименти сьогодення.

This podcast series will highlight the history of the Ukrainian independent music scene through the concept of cultural memory as a source of knowledge about ourselves. Memory Leaks explores the development of the scene, tracing how the home studio avant-garde of the 90s evolved into the electronic cross-genre experiments of today.

The series is produced in collaboration with The Quietus magazine and supported by British Council and Ukrainian Institute
