Frau Blau label boss Kadosh lands on the legendary Family Piknik with a catchy techno banger - 'Samurai'. Known for his quality releases on labels such as Innervisions, Live at Robert Johnson and Disco Halal, Kadosh regularly rubs shoulders with like-minded DJs Dixon, Âme, Solomun, and Damian Lazarus. His infectious grooves that have won him many A-list supporters and high profile gigs across the world seeing him playing in Tulum, Ibiza, London and beyond. ‘Samurai’ in original form is a tough, dark groove with bags of personality. A bubbly low end and sparse percussive keep the groove deep and ice cool for the perfect mid-set bruiser where the room is fully focused, heads down and ready to party. In "Create the Universe," a floating sound envelopes the scene, carried by rhythmic, percussive drums that seem to summon the heartbeat of our shared humanity. In the background, a native tribe chants while a greek guitar attempts to captivate and lure us into a distant world. The pulsating and thumping bass permeates the air, driving our souls into motion. Above this soundscape, an ethereal voice elevates and connects us to the cosmos.
Then, in a moment of stillness, Lydgen's vocals usher the rise of the sun and something new comes to life through the powerful melody of Seth's electronic violin. A very distant sunrise suddenly, like a portal, attracts us in light speed - diving through the sound. These radiant tones illuminate the universe we have collectively created as souls through this transcendental symphony of sound.

Since its debut in 2017, Damian Lazarus’ annual ‘SPIRITS’ series on Crosstown Rebels has been a beacon for breakthrough artists, setting the label’s agenda for the year ahead. The sixth instalment in February is another meticulously curated lineup with ‘SPIRITS VI’ featuring a blend of new and recognisable talents, including Lauren Lane, Cristina Lazic, Iñigo Vontier, AJ Christou and many more.

London-based talent Cameron Jack kicks off what looks set to be a breakout year with ‘The Vision’, a bubbly and tropical cut with cosmic synths and loose, jumbled rhythms. Chris Bowl then brings his emotional style to the deep, rolling beats and fresh melodies of ‘Silent Plain’, while NY-born, LA-based house tastemaker Lauren Lane layers in smoky pads and tender whispers to her sublime deep house cut, ‘Fair Game.’ Next, German talent and Degree Records head Marc Lenz brings darker vibes to his track ‘People Are People’, while Rebellion artist Cristina Lazic and previous Lazarus collaborator Leia Contois combine for the alluring vocal soul and gritty minimal drums of ‘So Deep’.

Mexican Iñigo Vontier is a pioneer in his homeland after crafting a global reputation, and his twisted synths, shiny textures and steely drums on ‘That Trippy Sound’ prove why as they work you into a trance. Next is influential Manchester-based DJ/producer AJ Christou, who has released on the likes of Hot Creations and Cuttin’ Headz. His track ‘Back & Forth’ brings an infectious groove with plenty of flair and catchy drum funk, before TMPLE shuts things down with the deft, airy grooves and floating bass of ‘The Girl In The Room’, complete with its tender male vocals.

At the forefront of electronic innovation, Crosstown Rebels stands as a pivotal platform and record label, reflecting the genre’s diversity and housing an impressive roster that includes renowned artists and household names like Art Department, Maceo Plex, and Jamie Jones. With sub-labels Rebellion and Secret Teachings in tow, the imprint consistently and continuously expands its musical canvas, creating an immersive landscape for leading and emerging talents to thrive.

Continuing a strong spring season, Madloch's Sound Avenue welcomes Secretly Famous back to the label for their first EP. Hailing from Australia, the Secretly Famous production duo first emerged in 2021 on the strength of early productions such as ‘Chimera' and ‘On Fire'. Noted for their ability to marry traditional and contemporary progressive sounds, the Secretly Famous duo was quickly tipped as a production team to watch going forward. The next three calendar years would see the Aussie duo continue to refine their sound, resulting in an aesthetic that was both groovy and melodic. Secretly Famous began their creative partnership with Sound Avenue in 2022 with a well-received debut via label affiliate Future Avenue, a two-track EP which would go on to yield twenty-two appearances across the Belgian conglomerate's label collective, with their lone Sound Avenue appearance coming a year ago with a remix of ‘One Word' by Estonian duo about : river. Now, following their latest 3rd Avenue vehicle ‘Firebullet Phoenix' to begin the year, Secretly Famous return to Sound Avenue for their first EP project ‘Yeon', alongside remixes from Poli Siufi, Mind of Us and Rockka.

New on Zatar is a three tracker from NIIXII, the DJ and producer based in Barcelona. Her Magia cut is deep, melodic tech house track with a bewitching melodic flourish referencing middle eastern roots. It's hypnotic and affecting and the perfect calling card for NIIXII’s distinct take on house.  

Magia is also remixed by Wally Lopez here, who addis his own sprinkling of magic to the track. As Wally describes:  "I'm a huge fan of Zatar and when they sent me some original songs I knew that we had something special on Magia and wanted to put my touches on it“.  

The EP is rounded off nicely with One Last Dance, a beautiful deep cut with oceans of ambience that will be as equally at home at sunset as sunrise.
