Following tradition, we briefed our invited artists (musicians and painter) to create their own interpretations of the underworld according to Aztec mythology:

Tepeme Monamictlán is the second of nine levels of the underworld Mictlán, also residence of Tepeyóllotl (god of mountains, echoes and jaguar); this is the place where two mountains crash, producing enormous echoes as signs for the dead to cross to the next level.

For this occasion, we suggested the musicians to intersect the concept with a trip-hop sound, while staying true to their craft.
The results are beautiful.

Mīmāṃsā is a Sanskrit word that means "reflection" or "critical investigation" and thus refers to a tradition of brahminical thought which reflected on the meanings of certain Vedic texts.

This tradition is also known as Pūrva-Mīmāṃsā because of its focus on the earlier (pūrva) Vedic texts dealing with ritual actions, and similarly as Karma-Mīmāṃsā due to its focus on ritual action (karma). It is one of six Vedic "affirming" (āstika) schools of Hinduism.

L'Égypte ! - Elle étalait, toute blonde d'épis,

Trois monts* bâtis par l'homme au loin perçaient les cieux
D'un triple angle de marbre, et dérobaient aux yeux
Leurs bases de cendre inondées ;
Et, de leur faîte* aigu jusqu'aux sables dorés,
Allaient s'élargissant leurs monstrueux degrés,
Faits pour des pas de six coudées*.

Un sphinx de granit rose, un dieu de marbre vert,
Les gardaient, sans qu'il fût vent de flamme au désert
Qui leur fît baisser la paupière.
Des vaisseaux au flanc large entraient dans un grand port.
Une ville géante*, assise sur le bord,
Baignait dans l'eau ses pieds de pierre.

On entendait mugir le semoun* meurtrier,
Et sur les cailloux blancs les écailles crier
Sous le ventre des crocodiles.
Les obélisques gris s'élançaient d'un seul jet.
Comme une peau de tigre, au couchant s'allongeait
Le Nil jaune, tacheté d'îles.

L'astre-roi* se couchait. Calme, à l'abri du vent,
La mer réfléchissait ce globe d'or vivant,
Ce monde, âme et flambeau du nôtre ;
Et dans le ciel rougeâtre et dans les flots vermeils,
Comme deux rois amis, on voyait deux soleils
Venir au-devant l'un de l'autre.
