This mix is basically my goodbye to San Diego - in a couple weeks I’m gonna be moving to San Francisco and the thought of leaving this incredible city I’ve lived in for the past few years is lowkey kinda terrifying. But I know it’s all part of the plan and I guess it’s just one of those things where it doesn’t matter whether you’re ready for the change or not because you have to do it anyways.

Some of these tracks bring back such significant memories that I’d go as far out of my way as possible to avoid listening to them, but starting a new chapter in life means it’s time to let go of the past and be grateful for the memories those songs gave me instead of running away from them, so I said fuck it and threw them in anyways. The L’s turned into lessons, the W’s changed the trajectory of my life, and now I can barely recognize the person I was before I moved here. 

This mix is designed to take you on a journey, the same journey that I went through, and I really hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it. Here’s to a new name, new city, and a new beginning.

Take a break from watching insomniac live stream reruns and picture this: You’re FINALLY in line for your first event after the quarantine. As you hear the bass thumping in the background the anxiety begins to set in. Is security gonna be more strict than usual? What if the ticket you copped through ravexchange is fake? Who’s inevitably gonna get lost and left behind? Hope it’s not you. Either way, you’re fitted in a brand new Illenium jersey (he’s not even playing) and spent the entire pregame scrolling through SAR so you KNOW tonight has potential. 

You finally get inside and after peeing in a urinal that had 2 little baggies at the bottom & getting a watered down drink from the bar, you and your friends begin to “excuse me sorry” your way through a sea of Kevin Nguyens (you even recognize 2 of them). You finally find a decent spot next to a totem shaped like the corona virus and mentally prepare yourself for what is about to happen. As soon as you hear “WHAT THE FUCK IS UP LOS ANGELES,” your come up anxiety disappears faster than that gram you did last night and all is right in the world. It’s time. 

But you didn’t just come here to rave. You came here to flex. This is the moment you’ve been day dreaming about for months. Every single one of those home workouts during the quarantine mattered and although you didn’t hit legs even before the quarantine, you’re looking for a rave bae who’s smol enough to put on your shoulders. 

Now imagine that same scenario but without all those quarantine workouts. Feels pretty shitty huh? You’re gonna keep your Illenium jersey on all night even though it’s hot as fuck because that tiny sliver of obliques you once had is long gone. It is at this moment you begin to regret drinking Jameson with your friends on Zoom for 5 hours a day instead of taking 30 minutes to preserve the few gains you still had. 

Because you feel so upset and ugly, you keep drinking, black out, and accidentally text that girl who was only talking to you during the quarantine because she was bored (you fell in love with her lmaooo RIP). The next afternoon you wake up and quarantine yourself all over again.

You don’t want that. Nobody does. That sounds like a truly awful situation. So get your ass off Netflix and go fucking work out to these bangers that are guaranteed to give you an aneurism.

Gyms have only sporadically been open. Increasingly unhealthier snacks are consuming your life. Crippling (and potentially irreversible) alcoholism is knocking on your door. Snorting preworkout doesn’t seem like such a bad idea anymore. You’ve spent countless hours gazing longingly at old pics of yourself at EBC and now wonder if it would be considered catfishing if you left them up on your Hinge profile. All of those untouched blender bottles in your kitchen stare at you menacingly and serve as a brutal reminder about how clean your diet used to be. Your desperation is becoming so severe that you’re now on the verge of asking that roided out dude you see literally every day at the gym who his plug is. 

In other words, you’re kinda fucked. Actually I’m not even gonna sugarcoat it, you’re completely fucked. 

But you know what? It’s okay.

This was intended to be a feels mix but I’m gonna be completely honest with you, it’s been what must be months now since I last felt even the slightest semblance of a single emotion, so naturally I had to sprinkle in a few bangers and ruin a perfectly good sadboi mix. And then it ended up evolving into basically another Quaranflex so I had to take a step back and rewatch old rave videos to get all in my feels and make it all sad again lowkey you’ve already heard all these songs like a million times before why am I so basic smhhhh anyways hope you like it
