ABR075 LeVirya & Broey. - Where the Crawfish Sing [EP]

LeVirya’s highly anticipated “Late Night Espresso” is, in LeVirya’s words “an ode to lo-fi hip hop, cassette tape culture and coffee.” However, to claim the release is merely coffee themed would be to ignore the nuanced complexities throughout the album. With a known talent in capturing subtle emotions, LeVirya has, in a way, produced an album which functions as a “coffee break diary”. Each song offers a glimpse of the Dutch producer’s mindset and mood that day, coffee in hand. 

Comprised of dusty beats, soulful saxophones and wistful flutes, “Late Night Espresso” makes for a quietly thoughtful listen. Woven together with the kind of sentimental undertones that are naturally encompassed by lo-fi vibes, it unleashes the sense of calm that comes with having a moment to truly think and be present. The album’s personable nature is perhaps born from the purpose it was made for; to be listened to on cassette tape. Giving it the air of something that is one-of-a-kind and secret. However, even for those who don’t own a cassette player, “Late Night Espresso” still offers the cassette experience, which is ultimately one of intimacy and nostalgia.

This EP is a collection of LeVirya's older works that were never properly released to the official channels. 
Instead of just putting something out there that was already out there, somewhere, he has been revisiting some of his older project that were never released or even finished at all. Sax Appeal and Reemism are two of those tracks. 

The reason why we are doing this is that he feels his style has changed. Lately he's more focussed on Lofi Hip-Hop and Downtempo, so this EP will be sort of a 'before I turn the page' release.

What started as one track soon became part of a bigger project. After the orinigal mix from @LeVirya, @elleodin jumped in for a vocal version, which gave the track so much more meaning, @klandestyne created an amazing liquid dnb remix, while Tony Vandelaar recorded multiple guitar layers for a more rocking vibe.

After nine full days of stress not being able doing anything music related this track was created in little over an hour. Usually when something goes this smoothly I end up deleting it, but not this one. It actually grew on me and after receiving merely positive feedback I decided to dot the i's and release it. So, here it is! I hope you enjoy it :)

The days are short, the night are long but not long enough, it's cold outside, bleak winter weather...after a while you start to wonder about pretty much everything and it slowly starts to affect how you feel about everything....and then you realize it's still 3 months until Springtime.

Eversince my son was born 9 months ago I wanted to create a song about fatherhood. My new track 'Blithe' is just that. It's about how a newborn experiences life in a carefree, worriless state of mind and how much light it brings to the parents. 

This track is part of the Aviary Bridge Records Samplefree Singles series. After the first two singles by Brasilian producer 'a_bel' and Migichan based producer 'Sommer', this is the third track. In the next few months Aviary will drop singles by Tree60, ChasBeats, Drchamploo, sar.casm, Paul Wilbury, Blue and Sub Hero.

I'm Right Here is a sad vibe lofi beat with a lot of weight. I asked trumpetist Garot Michael Conklin to join me on this one. His beautiful (live recorded) horns add so much emotion to this already sentimental track.

I wrote this track for mom who is terminally ill. She propably doesn't have much longer to live. I have watched her suffer. Seen her and my family struggle. This is a process in which you are completely powerless. The only thing you can do is try to be there as much as you can.

That's what this track is about. Being there to support a struggling loved one through the process.
