Lars Dales & Maarten Smeets are pillars of the dutch electronic scene for almost a decade and have adquired a worldwide reputation through their own awesome imprint Heist Recordings and countless releases on Aus Music, Dirt Crew, Tsuba or Freerange. They also have a new package of remixes for the legendary Salsoul label now !

Having taken their time to go through Salsoul’s vast catalogue, Dam Swindle chose to remix one of the seminal tracks in disco-soul history, First Choice’s 1977 ‘Let No Man Put Asunder’, paying homage to the original and adding “some serious Swindle punch.” The result is a deep, sultry update which showcases the brilliantly uplifting vocals, dreamy bassline and addictive percussion that made the original so loved. Reworks Vol 1 also features Dam Swindle’s remix of another classic, yet lesser known, Salsoul track, Kebekelektrik’s 1977 electro-disco odyssey ‘War Dance’. Dam Swindle chose ‘War Dance’ as it was a side project of cult producer Gino Soccio, who in Dam Swindle’s words “has been so influential in the evolution of disco.” Dam Swindle’s edit enhances the vibrant bursts of synths that sound as though they were from another planet, deployed alongside the hypnotic drumming for an update which was made to fill dancefloors, just as the original did all those years ago.

Now back producing he has been in strong demand since his return to the scene a couple of years ago. His latest release see's him stepping up to remix New Zealand duo Manuel Darquart, one of the current champions of the dream house sound, for Wolf Music, The result is a truly spellbinding remix which feels both classic and absolutely perfect in 2021. It's a must have for those summer sets.

Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is a highly respected and experienced musical selector and curator, founder of the album listening event and content hub Classic Album Sundays and an authority on music, sound and the vinyl renaissance.

She was mentored by David Mancuso at his seminal Loft parties in New York City. Together they co-produced the compilation series David Mancuso Presents The Loft and worked together on David’s record label The Loft Audiophile Library of Music. In 2000, David told Time Out New York City “ She is very devoted and very pure about the music. She’s one of the only people I would trust, both with the music and with the equipment, to fill in for me.” She is one of the musical hosts at The Loft, the co-founder of the Lucky Cloud Loft parties in London and DJs internationally on the world’s best sound systems and dance floors.

Classic Album Sundays tells the stories behind the albums that have shaped our culture and in some cases, our lives. Colleen founded Classic Album Sundays as a stance against the increasing devaluation of music and sound. What began as a passion project is now the world’s most popular album listening event with satellites in four continents and the website and social media channels host content on classic albums and artists such as interviews, videos, playlists and more.  BBC Breakfast Television remarked, “Classic Album Sundays treat our best-loved records like great symphonies.”

She has been a radio host and DJ since the age of fourteen and today hosts Balearic Breakfast, Cosmodelica and Classic Album Sundays Worldwide on Worldwide FM. She also wrote, co-produced and hosted the Classic Album Sundays series ‘This Women’s Work’ for PRX, ‘Sounds of a City’ series on BBC 6 Music and ‘Turntable Tales’ on BBC Radio 4.

She has put together her own compilations including New York Afterhours ‘A Later Shade of Deep’ for Nervous Records and The Disco-Tech of DJ Cosmo’ for Yellow Recordings. Her latest compilation, ‘Balearic Breakfast Volume 1’ is coming out on Heavenly Recordings on the 10th of June and can be pre-ordered here.

As a producer Colleen has remixed Roisin Murphy, Mildlife, Hard Feelings, A Certain Ratio, Secret Night Gang, The Rapture, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Beardyman, Candi Staton, Two Bears, Phenomenal Handclap Band, Cantoma, Horace Andy, Chaka Khan & more under her Cosmodelica moniker and as DarkStarr Diskotek with Ashley Beedle. Along with former Captain Beefheart guitarist Gary Lucas, she recorded and produced as Wild Rumpus.

Whether he’s taking the roof off a club with his unique selection of deep and tough house music, enchanting a backroom with a genre-bending set of disco, Balearic, rock and hip hop or playing chillout music in a bay in Croatia, Bill Brewster is the man for all occasions.

In a former life, Bill was a punk rocker, a chef and also the co-editor of football magazine When Saturday Comes but has been a record nerd all of his life. He began DJing in the 1980s, but came into his own in the early 1990s, particularly during a two-year stint in New York running DMC’s office, where nights at the Sound Factory and hanging out with Danny Tenaglia gave him the musical grounding you can still hear in his music today. Bill was also one of the founding residents at Fabric in London, a position he held for five years. There are few still playing regularly today that have his dedication, eclecticism and encyclopaedic knowledge of music.

His parallel life is as a writer and with his long-term partner-in-crime Frank Broughton they have written four books together, including the acclaimed Last Night A DJ Saved My Life (latest edition published last July), How To DJ (Properly) and The Record Players. The pair are also behind the legendary DJhistory.com and their party, Low Life, has been running for nearly 30 years. They now spend most of their time on a dinghy moored on
the Rochdale Canal.

He has been working in the industry’s fringes for over 40 years including the running of various labels from Twisted UK and Forensic in the ’90s to Disco Sucks and Anorak in the noughties. Occasionally Bill finds time to secrete himself away in a studio to make music
or cook up edits. And when he’s not doing any of that he has a family and a dog called Mavis to tend to. He is currently working on a secret project involving badgers, GM crops and disco.

This is a radio documentary I hosted in 2000 when we were promoting The Loft compilations David and I produced for Nuphonic. It features interviews with David, Alex Rosner and Francois K and of course, some great Loft classics. The doc was broadcast on XFM and was produced by my friend Chris Menist. I am somewhat embarrassed by my old presenting style (LOL!) but hey it was twenty years ago and I hope I have progressed since then ;). In any case, it's wonderful to hear David's voice and his own words and I hope you will enjoy this as we celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Loft. Love Saves the Day!
