I’ve been thinking on how to approach my residency at @refugeworldwide , to distinguish the radio shows from the sets I play on the weekends. To share more music with all of you I will be dedicating some upcoming refuge shows to specific genres or decades from my record collection. I will still have to figure out how I will go about it. 

For the last show at Refuge, which was the day after @deschoolamsterdam : I focused on 90's House tracks from my collection, many of which I played during my De School set, capturing the weekend‘s vibe.

Refuge Worldwide : Nathalie Seres 90's House - 25 July 2023

For an unknown reason, the Hotbox was absent from our radar systems for some time but we are relieved that it has given us new signs of life. To kick-off our Hot Series’ return, a rather vicious yet cheerful pilot will take the reins for our next foray into the Hotbox universe. Violently Happy (@djviolentlyhappy) is our next guest. Still shaping his sound, the Antwerp native found a connection to music through the flourishing queer community in the city. Drawing inspiration from artists like Eris Drew & Octo Octa, he always tries to evoke joyful emotions, while packing a serious punch in the process.

As the name suggests, prepare yourself for menacing beats with uplifting melodies. Steamy and sexy is what comes to mind when he thinks about Hotbox; and that’s exactly what you’re going to get. For over an hour, Violently Happy takes you on a high-energy trip leaving you with a big smile on your face. We can’t wait for what’s to come. Phonica walks into the fall months, but by no means are we saying goodbye to Summer just yet. With a weekend ahead looking to be well into the late twenties we are looking for somewhere to get our sweat on one last time. Enter Grace Sands! 
Grace is not only a regular in our shop but also a London legend. Being one of the founding members of the DiY Soundsystem, she has been holding it down since the early 90's originally as well as one half of Digs & Woosh alongside the late Peter Birch. These days you can find Grace holding it down at her residency at London's queer warehouse party Adonis or all over the world playing the likes of Fabric, Panorama Bar, Kala Festival and NYC Downlow at Glastonbury to only name a few. For this mix Grace has brought us our sweat in the form of an hour of pure driven house, tech and acid mixed to seamless perfection. This is Phonica 112: Grace Sands.
