There is no place more populated than the human consciousness at bedtime. Our mind can go from music to politics, money, people and everyday problems in a blink of an eye. In the attempting to sleep, everyone faces this journey where reality is confused with dreams and minutes feels like hours. The Brazilian poet Augusto dos Anjos uses a bat that gets into a bedroom and bothers one to sleep to represent this experience. Accordingly to him, the human consciousness is this bat and “as much as we do, at night, (the bat) goes imperceptibly in our room”. “…Wide is the journey through the night…” is inspired in this poem. Recorded and electronic sounds interact in the music and are manipulated in order to create a distorted sense of reality, blurring recognizable signs/objects (voices, national anthem, piano, city sounds and others), evoking this dreamlike insomnia experience.

Hyperesthesia is a condition that involves an abnormal increase in sensitivity to stimuli of the sense. Therefore, such as in a hyperesthesia crisis, all stimuli in the music (even the smallest) changes the general atmosphere or triggers larger gestures.

Reminiscências (2016) retrata uma reflexão sobre a vida. Tal reflexão é realizada por alguém que se encontra próximo à morte. Esta pessoa relembra momentos que são importantes na vida de qualquer pessoa, como infância, adolescência, festas, primeiro amor, primeiras relações sexuais, vida adulta, emprego e terceira idade. A peça tem como intuito se apresentar como um teatro musicado, onde as cenas (imagens) ficam ao encargo da imaginação do próprio ouvinte.

The piece is a reflection about life itself. The music acts as if the
listener was inside the mind of someone close to death who is recalling important moments of his
life such as childhood, sexual experiences, parties, work and death. The piece uses recorded and
synthesized sounds to suggest all these environments, sometimes clearly and sometimes blurred,
illustrating passages of life that almost everyone can relate with.

Levy Oliveira (1993), born in Congonhas (Brazil), dedicates himself to musical composition since 2010. His music is being played frequently in Brazilian and international festivals and it has also been awarded in competitions in Brazil and abroad. In his creative work, Levy Oliveira aims to understand how the listeners reacts to music and how their expectations are built to posteriorly confirm or deny it. Therefore, the study of psychological terms such as habituation and processing fluency has been a rich source of information to be explored in his music. Electronics is often applied as a way of breaking expectations, increasing the spatial and timbral possibilities available to surprise the listeners. Nonetheless, he has composed for different instrumentations that goes from acousmatic pieces to solo instrument, chamber and orchestral music.
