Up next we have Venezuelan-born, now Barcelona-based Verushka. She has delivered a deep and sensual mix, not driven by speed rather by the pull of textures that are slow yet sexy. 

She is the co-founder and resident of Me Siento Extraña, a collective which exhibits music and utilises the club setting as a space for resistance and expression within the FLINTA* community.

Ambedo navigates the outer edges of club music, drawn to sounds that are deep, dubby, and delightfully off-centre. Based in Naarm, he’s a DJ, radio host, and co-founder of Deuce Events, known for a sound that defies easy categorisation—gliding through low-slung rhythms, ghostly percussion, and warped, unconventional club forms.
His sets are shaped as much by after-hours basements as by open-air bush settings, moving fluidly across techno, breaks, dub, ambient, and bass. Yet no matter the genre, his approach is defined by mood and control—slow-building, tension-driven, and locked into a hypnotic, physical space.
Ambedo has performed alongside artists such as Roi Perez, Kia, Adam Pits, Guy Contact, and Lisene, and taken to the decks at some of Naarm’s most iconic venues including Sub Club, Xe54, The Gasometer, and Glamorama. His sound bends to suit the room, but never loses its depth—immersive, unexpected, and emotionally resonant.
With Deuce, he helps create inclusive spaces for femme, BIPOC, queer, and gender-diverse artists—continuing to support the community that raised him. Ambedo’s presence behind the decks is subtle yet magnetic, crafting surreal sonic environments that pull listeners in and refuse to let go.

The trance queen opens RA.998 with her cheeky, break-heavy vision.

The RA Podcast began with RA.001 in 2006. Since then, it's spotlighted the best and brightest in dance music every week, without fail. As we approach our 1,000th episode next month, we're switching things up, pairing artists whose sounds complement one another and, in doing so, zeroing in on the forces shaping the past, present and future of electronic culture.

This week, we shift lanes to Roza Terenzi and Kim Ann Foxman, two artists who strike a rare balance between reverence and reinvention. Both are key figures in queer clubbing circles, deeply informed by the halcyon days of '90s and early '00s club music yet fully committed to pushing it forward.

Each artist has carved out a distinct path. Roza Terenzi started out in Perth, Australia, before making a home in Berlin in 2020, while the Hawaii-born Foxman made her name in New York by way of San Francisco in the early '00s. For RA.998, they've contributed separate mixes, to be enjoyed together as two parts of the same whole.

Roza Terenzi opens with a high-impact A-side. Clocking in at just over an hour, her second mix for us picks up where the first left off, connecting breakbeat, acid, UK garage and trance with an ear for tension and a sense of play. Peppered among the skippy percussion and earworm vocals are moments of proper heft that build and release with purpose. It's cheeky, confident and tailor-made to get any dance floor moving.

While Foxman and Roza Terenzi embrace a fun, vibrant musical style, their work is grounded in intentionality. They're invested in honouring the cultural and political roots of dance music: Foxman has long advocated for a more inclusive, community-driven club scene, while Roza Terenzi was among the first artists to begin pulling shows this summer as a matter of political principle.

Both sides of RA.998 show how the sounds of past eras can be reimagined to move seamlessly with the present. Hopefully you'll even feel a jolt of inspiration to get yourself to the nearest dance floor, ASAP.

Kailyn Crabbe is a West Australian-born and Naarm-based DJ living on Wurundjeri Country. Comfortable playing everywhere from tiny DIY raves to densely packed club backrooms or glossy large-scale doofs, her sets hone in on a communal sense of elation, wrapping dancefloors in a haze of hypnagogic house, flurries of tribal percussion and wonky techno. 

She’s held space alongside luminaries like Ben UFO, Objekt and D. Tiffany and is the preeminent dance music expert at triple J, where she hosts and programs Mix Up, platforming the sounds of the underground on national radio while shining a light on the diverse and exciting community she’s deeply couched in. 
Kailyn also heads up dance music platforms Crab Claw and Club Jewelz— the latter is a free DJ course for women and gender-diverse crew that morphed into an occasional party and radio show on Naarm institutions Skylab and Area3000. This passion for uplifting her peers has seen her teach alongside DJ Sarah of IN2STELLAR for MPavillions DJ 101. She’s very likely to be found front-left on dancefloors around Australia on most weekends (if she’s not in the booth or cosied up in the studio).

This mix is a blend of deep and dubby sounds—something to sink into and with a bit of movement. It's a combination of some of my favourite artists from back home and nostalgic club records that I always find myself coming back to, hoping between genres but always always a little warm.
