SAMOSA FUNK feat. Get Down Edits 'Daz' x DOT Music Episode #10

Black Light Disco returned to New York’s My House Radio on Monday 6th July 2020 with another barnstormer of a show full of musical delights to treat your ears to.

Starting things off was recent birthday boy and BLD Sonic Consultant - Esteban, who unwrapped some celebratory choice cuts of funky disco dazzlers for the first hour - including two brand new tracks from our brothers in booginess, Samosa Funk! 

Next up was our special guest for the evening, Brighton lad Paul Clark aka North Laine! Paul has had a string of releases on Bandolier Records and Hot Digits, with frequent collaborations with Bandolier head honcho, Chewy Rubs. This guy clearly loves his disco house and we were delighted to have him on board for Black Light Disco!

Paul's DJ career kicked off in 1977 playing jazz, funk and soul - which quickly brought the title of No. 1 DJ on the South Coast. 

More recently, Paul has been a regular player at the Bournemouth Soul Weekender as well as Solar Radio all dayers, Margate Soul Weekend, Solstice and Patterns Brighton to name but a few. His collaborations with fellow South Coaster, Chewy Rubs always hit a perfect balance of disco grooves with a unique edge to them - which you can hear for yourself as some of these gems are included in his set!

Black Light Disco 6th July 2020 - Esteban & North Laine

For the show on Monday 13th July 2020 on MyHouse Radio we handed over the reigns once again to our boogie brothers from Italy - Samosa Funk! 

Les Inferno and De Gama treated us to yet another masterclass  - their selections and unparalleled tune wrangling skills are deadly in creating a vibe that simply overwhelms the senses and tickles the funk bone to the point where you've lost all track of time! 

First up is Les Inferno, who takes us on a blistering journey of original grooves sprinkled with his own delicate re-touches of some classic funk. This guy knows his music inside out - he wows us every month with his selections and his craft.

For the second hour, De Gama takes over the controls of BLD HQ and delivers a set that will have your pulse and heart valves racing. It's an absolute bomb of sultry sax, jazzy flutes, tightly slapped basslines, crazy electric keys, latin grooves and sassy brass fanfares. You'll need a cold shower and a stiff drink after this one - believe it!

Samosa Funk Vol 3 feat Les Inferno & Degama

Black Light Disco returned  to the My House Radio airwaves on Monday 20th July 2020 with a real humdinger of a show. 

Kicking things off was our dynamic duo from Wales, Pookie Knights - who delivered a set bursting at the seams with quality disco grooves, hi-hats and disco strings. It was another example of the finely tuned musical brains of these Knights of the BLD Table.

For the second hour, we were more than delighted to showcase the considerable talents of our very special guest for the evening -  Waterford’s finest and friend of the show, Mr Stephen Richards! Stephen takes us on a Tour de Force of past and present - an eclectic array of music genres that'll get your feet stomping and your brains tingling. For us, this was one of the best shows of the year so far and we're sure you'll agree with us.

Stephen is in the richest vein of form of his life right now. Not only is his own DiscoDaze show on Waterford's OpenTempo FM flying, this year has seen stellar releases on Hot Digits, Rare Wiri, Spa In Disco and Slightly Transformed so far this year. Later this year Stephen will make his debut on Tropical Disco Records, whilst his latest collaboration with fellow Waterford dweller Darren 'Daz' Dalton,  'Making Music 2' will release on Hot Digits in the next few months.

DiscoDaze #159 - 28.08.20 (Guest Mix - North Laine)

The latest instalment of the Black Light Disco show aired on Monday 31st August 2020 on the number 1 house music station on the whole stinking planet, MyHouse Radio Fm. 

This was another two hours of super-charged funky joints and disco grooves to lighten the mood and soothe the soul. 

On hosting duties this week was our BLD resident and Spin City Head Honcho, Goz who got things off to a great start with a mixture of new and soon to be released tunes alongside some recent classics. It’s an hour of bass slappin’, foot tappin’ paradise featuring cuts from the likes of Tropical Disco, Samosa Records and Slightly Transformed. 

For the second hour, we welcomed Russia based DJ from Sweden, Martin Petersson for one of the most memorable debuts on the show so far. 

Haling from Portside Gothenburg, Sweden, Martin Petersson (aka MartinMax) moved out to Moscow more than a decade ago. 
He quickly gained traction on the local club scene with spots at Pacha Moscow amongst others. One of Martin’s key traits are his profound knowledge of music, which he combines with an imminent feeling for the pulse of the dance floor. Since early Spring 2020 Martin has been part of our good friends at Discoholics Anonymous and a residency on Hot To The Touch on Prime Radio 100.3 FM (where he came onto our BLD radars very quickly!) Martin’s passion is reflected in every set he make, which has secured him a growing following of dedicated discholics. We’re delighted to welcome Martin onto the show and know he’ll make a big impression.
