"This mix feels deeply sentimental to me.  I’ve mainly selected South Asian influenced Drum N Bass tracks, edits and compositions that play off that sweet spot between melody and heavy drums. There’s a lot of music from my childhood, and music I admired from afar as a fan of the British Asian underground, and tracks from contemporary producers that feel like a perfect blend. Honestly, I started djing to try and communicate this very clear relationship the music of my Indian childhood and heritage had to my contemporary love for the club and drum heavy music in my brain and body, and while I’ve had the chance to explore that before in live sets, or in mixes such as my mix for the Bleus series, this feels like the best reflection of that special part of my brain and heart. I shared the mix with my friend and collaborator Izzi and we both listened to it (in separate cars) as we drove to meet each other at the beach, in Waddawarrung country, and it felt like the perfect soundtrack to that? I’ve separated the mix into two with an interlude so the first part I think travel somewhere, and the for the last bit dance cos you’ve arrived at your destination. "

The Newcastle born, Eora/Sydney established and Naarm/Melbourne based DJ, radio host and producer is one of the most developed names in Australian underground dance music. Lex’s DJing traverses sounds and worlds through to uplifting sounds of breaks, UKG, prog trance, and bass heavy oddities. Following years of grinding as a support act for some of the best DJs in the world, including Omar S, Willaris K, Baba Stiltz, DJ Boring, Brame & Hamo and Peggy Gou, the past few years has seen heer move up the bill to one of the most in demand local acts in the country. Naturally, she’s also hosted mixes for the likes of Rinse FM, triple J and FBi Radio, and host’s the most popular show on community radio station Nomad Radio, Club Ex Ex.

RIP IV is a bpd opera from the collective subconscious of E Fishpool, Kalyani, and Sam Miers. Set across Batemans Bay, Carlton, Bookar and Box Hill, the show traverses big emotions through dance music, improvisation, sampling and live instrumentation. Are organ covers the ultimate DJ hype edit? 

Played between CDJs, ableton, guitars, usbs, a heavy (and light) keyboard and human singing, RIP IV is a constant live edit, with Emily, Sam n Kalyani rotating roles and responsibilities to hold the set and move it forward. 

The set is constantly collapsing in on itself - with each artist offering new narratives whilst the others are slowly being ripped apart, re-used and recontextualised. It is a type of experimentation where the artists are able to bring all of themselves whilst simultaneously being open to being challenged.. Not only through sound, but through a collective vulnerability and openness to creating something incommensurable (fully tweaked). 

Punters reported experiencing something similar to an acid trip and tears were shed while hugging boulders.
