The Path to Cognition EP – “The Village” describes René's time in the countryside. With soft pad sounds and a smooth bass René invites you to a travel back through time to his youth. You can literally feel the big forests, blue lakes and calm village life. Beneath that, the light use of exotic instruments reveals the itchy feet René had back in those days.

Robin Schulz created an amazing remix which also discloses his completely different feeling about village life. He removed all pad sounds, reworked many elements and added a vocal to specify his message: he loves the calm life in the village & enjoys the beauty of loneliness. Maybe because these days he’s on tour and playing in cities all over the world.

The I am Frost project – The idea was to create a project that goes beyond the boundaries of music. I am Frost combines music, video and words into a multimedia work of art that appeals to the ears, the eyes and the mind in equal measure. “The Path to Cognition EP” is accompanied by a corresponding live and visual show and a short story. The second chapter awaits in summer 2014.

Vergissmeinnicht – is a globally active artist collective with bases in Peru, Germany & Switzerland. With a party series in Peru and Zurich providing a strong basis, Vergissmeinnicht cemented its legendary status after organizing the Görlitzer Park open air party of 1 May 2011. The idea behind Vergissmeinnicht is to provide a platform for like-minded artists for trans-border cultural exchange and to help each other with promotion, advice, contacts and music production.

For the first release of 2022, we are pleased to welcome Amsterdam- based Romanian Alex Preda, who already participated in Odd Echoes Vol. 3, and this time, he presents his debut EP  ̈Moons & Stars ̈ on the label with a fabulous remix by Lexer.

The Preda sound has developed over the years, with his taste developing into the electronic sounds of the likes of Jean Michel Jarre and Vangelis in his teens, into his signature driving techno. 

Always with an element of warmth and melody underneath and has evolved into integrating live elements into his performances, something Alex has been perfecting over the years.

The lead track Might Be Love ft. Katty Heath, is the perfect opener, full of groove and catchy melodies, that play along with the fx lead vocal, creating a super club piece.

Lexer approaches the reinterpretation of the lead track, adding new and catchy melodies, synthesizers and textures, giving his well-known stamp and taking the version to his own terrain.

Delving deeper into the EP, we find more of Alex's signature sound, but with a deeper and more emotional touch as shown in  ̈Don't Move" where the focus is on the beautiful chords that make the perfect match with the celestial synth melodies.

To close the EP we have “Searching” which is also another dance floor oriented track, fitted especially to turn the heat on the on any set. And last but not least, “Away from IT” is the perfect electronica/breaks closing track to round up this special EP.

Paving the way for the new era of DJs, Lexer’s ascension to deep house superstar has been rapid since turning his hand to production in 2012, with the likes of Bakermat, Oliver Schories, Klangkarussel, Alle Farben and Tom Novy all supporting the German’s signature sound. Joining the dots between Europe’s hottest cities, the promising trailblazer can reminisce back on a packed touring schedule with performances from Amsterdam to Zurich, Berlin to Paris - not to mention plenty of festivals appearances in between. 

Now with his impending release on Kittball, Lexer delivers yet another reason for industry leaders to take heed of his talents. Melodic breakdowns and a pensive hook are the reasoning behind the title of ‘Thoughtful’, a track that emits sunshine and solstice with every lasting note. The rumbling kick drums of ‘Rusty Heart’ make for a heavier number, whilst playful bass stabs, charming melodies and glorious strings make for a testament to Lexer’s rocketing talents as a producer.

First up on remix duties is Kittball favourite in.deed, whose rendition of ‘Rusty Heart’ introduces a fuzzy bass hook and sultry atmospherics to a positively upbeat cut. Pulling apart the original and reconstructing it into a completely different creature, Ron Flatter then ties up the release with a stripped back and understated renovation that saunters along amiably.

Some called him Mozart of Techno, others see the new Elvis Presley of Techno in him or the manifestation of Jesus. God, I am so modest. Don't put your light under the bed my teacher in elementary school said. Especially when it is a candle. 

No, but seriously: Whatever you might think, for me this is part of my life condensed in music and since it's almost impossible to find singers who want to work on their vocals more than 2 takes it was a practical choice to use my own voice.
