Karen Malcangi (nome d’arte di Keren Uribazo Dominguez) è una cantautrice italo-cubana 
nata all’Avana il 13 settembre 1994. Autodidatta con radici musicali affondate nel coro della 
chiesa dove ha iniziato a cantare a soli 6 anni, sviluppa una voce eclettica e un’intensa 
espressività, plasmata dall’incontro tra la sua eredità culturale e la musica pop-alternativa. 
Crede nella musica come linguaggio universale e nei testi che scavano nell’anima. 
A 25 anni entra nella band "La Cruzada", esperienza che consolida la sua identità artistica. 
Trasferitasi in Italia a 27 anni, approfondisce lo studio della lingua italiana al CPIA, dove 
l’insegnante Nicla Bianculli ne riconosce il talento, portandola a esibirsi nel 2023 al Teatro 
Mercadante di Altamura nello spettacolo *“Mamma, Madre Terra, Terra Madre”*. Nello stesso 
anno trionfa alla 35ª edizione del Festival Nota D’Oro(categoria Senior), conquistando la 
presidente di giuria Grazia Di Michele (vocal coach di Amici di Maria De Filippi), che ne loda 
“la grinta e il timbro avvolgente”. 
Il suo percorso accelera con partecipazioni al programma televisivo “Sing" a Roma, dove 
stupisce il maestro Luca Pitteri (voce storica di Io Canto e Amici), e con concerti in tutta la 
Puglia – dal Teatro Saltimbanco di Santeramo in Colle al Mangiatordi di Altamura, fino ai live 
tra Gravina in Puglia Poggiorsini, Trani, Gioia del Colle, e anche la Basilicata– sempre accolta 
da un pubblico rapito dalla sua energia. 
Il 5 luglio 2025 pubblica l’inedito “Dame un Beso”, disponibile su tutte le piattaforme digitali, 
un brano che fonde melodie latine e sensibilità contemporanea. Nello stesso anno, raggiunge 
la finale del Festival Fatti Sentire(4ª edizione) con “Riflessione”, un inedito crudo e poetico 
che denuncia l’ipocrisia sociale, un grido contro l’indifferenza, trasformato in melodia, 
elevandosi a inno di uguaglianza e solidarietà. 
Prossimi obiettivi: Karen sta lavorando al suo primo album, un progetto che unisce soul, pop e 
world music, con testi bilingue che raccontano, amore e resilienza.

was in the 90’s, but that was just the beginning 
of a bigger journey without ending.
