Copenhagen's techno scene is about to experience a little seismic shift as young prodigy Tino announces the release of his highly anticipated EP, "Cagematch," on Leyla Records. Showcasing five relentless techno tracks, "Cagematch" promises to captivate audiences with its diverse sonic palette and infectious energy.

From the thick and meaty beats of the title track "Cagematch" to the funky and chunky grooves of "Space Fold," Tino's EP offers a mesmerizing journey through the realms of techno music. Each track is meticulously crafted to induce mayhem on the dancefloor, igniting a frenzy of movement and euphoria among listeners.

Tino expresses his pride in the project, stating, "My productions resonates with an electrifying blend of fast-paced rhythms, futuristic textures, and immersive atmospheres. Drawing inspiration from the old-school rolling beats of Birmingham's techno legacy".

The inaugural release on Amsterdam's Leyla label comes from British producer Manni Dee. Across four bristling cuts, he is the first to represent the label's dedication to classic techno with a modernist twist.

Human Image further refines Manni's flair for constructing hypnotic techno that surges with detail. The four tracks provide a vivid dip into the dancefloor, placing you firmly in front of the speakers, head first into a manic dance. With previous releases on Black Sun Records and Perc Trax, as well as support from the likes of Surgeon, himself an inspiration for the label, Manni is the perfect artist to launch Leyla into the world.

From the blistering roll out of ‘Symbiotic’ to the hypnotic pound of ‘Bring The Brave In’, the swung rhythm of ‘Pascal's Gambit’ to the cavernous inferno of ‘I Was Desire’, Human Image is a reflection of the bodily pleasures of techno. It is what you'd see if you could hold a mirror up to dancing devotees at any rave worldwide. It is, like Leyla's own occult origins, both light and dark.

Leyla is a brand new label dedicated to recapturing the authentic feeling of techno from a specific era while retaining a modern touch. It's a platform for the music to grow with inspiration from a wide range of styles - industrial, folk, electro. Leyla brings it all together for a new generation.

The four-track Human Image EP will be released on 12" vinyl and digital on June 29.

The second release on Leyla Records is a meeting of techno minds between Bristol's JoeFarr and Leeds' Martyn Hare. Mode features three blistering cuts shaped from a classic British industrial mould. 
The record opens with ‘The Inside’, a five-minute A-side workout for the body and mind pressed on 45rpm for maximum dancefloor impact. A mournful lead rises over a subtly skittish rhythm and the pressure builds gradually towards an ecstatic, yet impossible, release. On the B-side, the pair ‘Go Fourth’ into machine armageddon. Icy, angular melodies grate against rock solid foundations in a series of switches that keep the listener on the edge. ‘Safe Mode’ closes proceedings with a gentler touch, a meditative eyes-down moment full of rhythmic flourishes that propels you into the night. 
Mode is a fluid distillation of both producers' style, three tracks that pay homage to the past, have their eyes set on the future but remain all about the present moment, sweat dripping from the ceiling as the crowd goes off. It's another strong salvo from Leyla Records, proclaiming the Amsterdam-based label's intention with righteous fury.

Leyla’s 'Parallels & Influences EP’ brings together Mondkopf, Positive Centre, Codex Empire & Yuji Kondo for an assaulting 4 tracks of power infused and industrial strength techno. 

Mondkopf starts things roling with militaristic snare rolls and off-kilter analog synthesis into a climatic fervor of dystopian scene-scaping. This then is followed upu energetically by the pounding pressure and liquid 303 squelches of Positive Centre’s ‘Rub’. Crushed out cymbals battle against booming sub bass as a foghorn call rides high above the tempestuous patterns. 

Codex Empire’s ‘Hessdalen’ is as slick and detailed as it is ruff and raw. Huge sweeping backgrounds with intense high end percussion lick over a stomping, staggered kick pattern. Yuji Kondo (one half of the excellent Steven Porter project with Katsunori Sawa) brings things to a close with ‘Whip Blow’. Bringing his signature refusal for traditional percussion sources - this peaking track pits high level technicality against deeply hypnotic and brooding rhythm.

Following an accomplished EP on Perc Trax & a feature on Parallels and Influence Part II, Manni Dee returns to Leyla contributing his third EP to the labels impressive discography.

Your Public Image commences with Insurrection Erection, featuring vocals by Joke Lanz of Sudden Infant (Harbinger Sound, Raubbau). The vocal contributions harness a feeling of widespread disharmony, punctuating the bullish drums and assertive atmosphere with eruptions of frustration and expressions of malcontent. While the field recorded vocals made by Lanz feature as an empowered voice and a call for upheaval, the screams and shrieks from Lanz operate as the marginalised voice of the oppressed, sharply slicing through musical elements only to disappear and become submerged.

The A2 skips along with broken beats in very British fashion, reminiscent of Manni's earlier work on Black Sun Records, with added ingenuity and percussive flare.

The application of vocals, which has become a key characteristic of Dee's recent work, is creatively exhibited on the B1 Combination Acts; a track that displays a deft percussive density unique to Dee's style, adding a frenetic touch to a steadfast substructure. 

The tempo ramps up on the EP closer, satirically & appropriately titled The Jingoism Stench. The distorted & frantic yet nimble foundation propels the track forward, with reverberated contact mic and vocal recordings bouncing off the stolid walls of rhythmic pressure.

An acute understanding and implementation of rhythm and sound design results in provocative dancefloor material that blurs the lines between industrial traditions and (post) punk artistry. Dee continues to flourish as one of the most innovative and exciting voices in techno today.

B1. Manni Dee - Combination Acts

Directed by Sacrifice opens with a contribution from Stroboscopic Artefacts label head Lucy, debuting on the Amsterdam based imprint with a sophisticated tribal affair. The involving sound design and rolling synth lines combine to produce and evolving journey overlaid with sporadic electrical sparks, ostensibly independent of tempo. A distorted kick and velocity laden hi hats keep the groove firmly in place and marry the movement embodied in the bubbly synths.

Ontario Hospital make a rare and special appearance on the A2 with Worthless Scam. Vocals by Dave Foster aka Huren remain buried and undecipherable throughout the first half of the track, the sporadic groove, percussion and automated synth lines doing most of the work. Modulations give the track a live feel, reminiscent of the duo's unforgettable performances, channelling power electronics and industrial characteristics. The drums switch pace around halfway keeping the listener engaged without loosing the tracks core rhythmic foundation. It's here where Foster channels his aggression and displeasure with visceral vocals and stentorian screams.

The B-side of V/A part III opens with a contribution from Leyla boss Chafik Chennouf. A solid groove lays the foundation for synth lines to build tension, crescendoing in various drops consisting of funky drum programming and ubiquitous automation. Quasi-acid lines stretch across the track propelling things forward, while panning tick tock percussion provides the hypnosis to hang your hat on.

The closing track comes from the unmatchable pairing of Japan's Yuji Kondo and Katsunori Sawa. Both phenomenal as solo artists, the coalescence of the two talents never disappoints. The universe of sound created by the couple is immediately immersive, with a sub impossible not to submit to and broken kicks seemingly slicing the tempo in half. Pitter patter percussion punctuates the track as arpeggios glide from side to side, complimented by what sound like industrial sheet metal recordings and portentous drones.

Leyla Records presents their next VA: Unwitch - The Presence, featuring label regulars and newcomers alike.

Commencing proceedings with an industrial churner is Leyla debutant I Hate Models with 'Beloved & Damned', making use of crunchy drums and concise percussion. The sharp call and response stabs cut through the speakers like shards of glass, acting as a hook for the listener as the reduced tempo slugs and punches along.

47 regular and Scalameriya collaborator VSK provides a solid A2 with 'Inception'. Rolling drums and impressive sound design create a concrete wall of sound, dense in detail and off-kilter percussion. Ominous drones and one-shots marry together to produce a polyrhythmic feel, pushing and pulling the listener between aggressive propulsion and elongated pads.

The B-Side gets underway with an interesting first time collaboration between Chafik Chennouf (Leyla, Opal Tapes), Manni Dee (Tresor, Perc Trax), and Huren (Zhark, AMOK Tapes), crossing borders and styles to produce a broken-beat punk infused techno track. The sardonic vocals from Huren channel aggression, mocking the state of the scene, consumerism and exploitation. Chennouf and Dee collaborate to produce an acid infused roller, with halftime percussion and distorted kicks, backed with field recordings from Chennouf's visits to Morocco.

Fresh of the back of releases on L.I.E.S and Dekmantal UFO Series, Parrish Smith closes proceedings with 'Moshpit'. Grinding kicks and percussion establish a strong groove before shrill tones take the fore, eventually forming a quasi-melody. Drum breaks are utilised intelligently to propel things forward, with thick snares landing on the two and four, locking the groove together. Rave synths and detuned samples elevate the track to new heights, closing out the compilation with as many memorable elements as it started with.
