L'ampleur du souffle (2020)

To breathe, is to activate a certain space. Short breaths, deep breaths, dying breaths or sensual ones - they evoke variety of features and peculiarities that the breath embodies. Breath is also a precondition of voice, and further, of a spoken word. Paving the path for every physiological and philosophical activity, breath is essential to all we do and all that we are. 
Auditory situations in this piece are fluidly changing from one to another in a constant fluctuation and transfiguration of the musical material. Acoustic spaces inside of which the music is being situated, give room for the sounds to appear, to change and disappear, develop and transform, and inside of these spaces, the ear can swift freely from one sound object to another in a spatial and non-linear listening experience.

Commissioned for the Tingles & Clicks project by the Musikprotokoll 2020 and supported by the program "Creative Europe" of the European Union and SHAPE platform.

The work was presented in ambisonics, binaural and stereo formats. It was composed for an interactive environment, and the sections (structure, duration) were open. This is one of its renderings (structure and format-wise), made for the presentation at Radio Belgrade in 2020.

Presented at Musikprotokoll, Graz, at Radio Belgrade 3, CYNETART festival and Ö1 radio (Zeit-Ton radio show).

Ervin Omsk is a pseudonym of Germany-based musician and visual artist Sven Fritz.
His music is based on a spatial approach, using oscillators, percussion, speech, fragments, noise, and many other sources to approximate a sense of texture and terrain through sound.
Ervin Omsk has released on International Winners and Orange Milk Records. The last album Schmalster Point was released in 2023 by Orange Milk.
About the mix:
A compilation of music, most of which I have listened to recently when walking or taking the train. The mix has become quite heterogeneous, so for me, it’s constantly oscillating between the music's own spaces and the associative environments a lot of
the tracks are unfolding again and again (surprisingly often using artificial forms of human voices or gestures).

Lunar Prism — DIGITONICA invites Ervin Omsk

Melon Musk's music shapes abstract soundscapes composed of liquid forms in constant mutation. This electronic music trio, made up of William Binta, Daniel Dariel and Amédée De Murcia, sculpts strange timbres on slow motifs, evoking both melted plastic and nightmarish voices. 

William Binta uses and programs virtual instruments inspired by the mosaicity of sounds, focusing on the technique of granular synthesis.

CFolle, his latest solo project, is characterized by the staging of slow, hypnotic motifs, accompanied by organic and sometimes cartoonish sounds, creating sound miniatures with rubbery textures.

Daniel Dariel plays solo under the pseudonym Csocsó, and has performed and taken part in encounters and residencies in multiple institutions in and around Europe (amongst which: galerie Nadja Vilenne, Gevaert Editions, Grrrnd Zero, Erg, WIELS, Institut de Carton, Lieu Unique, Gaîté Lyrique, Cave12, Braille Satellite, Counterflows, Bad Bonn, Instants Chavirés, OCCII, ...). He is also an active member of the Third Type Tapes label and organizes concerts at les Ateliers Claus, Brussels.

Beside his main alias, Somaticae, Amédée De Murcia leads weird organic and rhythmic excursions filled with breaks and caught in a swarming bath of plastic melts sounds and scary artificial voices. As the author of numerous recordings, flirting with adventurous electronica and a resolutely experimental-based approach, Somaticae mainly plays amongst the crowd, offering live sets filled with impactful and abrasive constructions.

"I wanted to make something which reflected a scene of nature, outside of the city, somewhere which has become more and more attractive to be over the last few months... So I made these synthesised percussion sounds to be almost real and wooden, which are weaving in and out across different tempos, playing patterns that are somewhat regular, but always changing slightly. This is meant to be analogous with the dawn chorus, or any scene of nature where lots of different small events are happening, layered, at once... But I only had the dawn chorus, so I recorded that at 4am on Monday morning. These individual bird songs weaving in and out, repeating, different birds joining and leaving throughout. So it's meant to be 3 different sound environments, or imaginary frames of an environment at 3 different moments."
