Danny Boy Bar

This piece is for most an educational study on compositional techniques for my own practice. It all started with me, analyzing Morton Feldman’s Three Voices, which I consider one of the seven world wonders of contemporary vocal music. After that, I wanted to find out if there was a way to have four singers present on stage and still generate this striking, ghost like atmosphere, characteristic to Feldman’s piece, generated by Joan La Barbara’s reproduced, prerecorded voices, and yet invisible bodies on stage.

Delirious Patterns

Animal Talkin' is a cycle of 5 small pieces of music for strings, wood winds and modular synthesizer. The piece is a study of the potential of animal communication as a model for musical form.

"Because" is a song written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon–McCartney) and recorded by the English rock band the Beatles. It was released on their 1969 album Abbey Road.

According to Lennon, the song's close musical resemblance to the first movement of Ludwig van Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata was no coincidence: "Yoko was playing Beethoven's 'Moonlight Sonata' on the piano ... I said, 'Can you play those chords backwards?', and wrote 'Because' around them. The lyrics speak for themselves ... No imagery, no obscure references."

French duo Pandhora worked with an original acapella track and recreated the whole piece around the vocals with modern sounds. Extending the track with instrumental parts, they are giving a tribute to the original with an outdoor festival dance in mind.

Places 3
Places has been changing. To grasp change is not possible, only the effects of changes are for us to access. A place might be a possibility of an encounter, where appearances show themselves as repetitions of the everyday.
All sorts of physical places, other than the ones we now know all too well, might act only as imagery for things we cannot reach.
How places look and how they sound, nice, strange or whatever, they do it just for and by themselves. If we happen to truly encounter a place, which happens to be a rare exception, we may learn a lot about us and eventually taste and hear differently. Places change through the narratives we place over them. An event is the moment when this facade gets small cracks. These small cracks are like organic lines that mark the reality of places and are the traces we follow when playing Places 3.
