Lia Catreux - United Taste [Place: France ∞ Air Texture]

Inspired by the iconic tradition of the sample pack, the Source Folder series seeks to explore the diversity of interpretations, paths and offsprings that might emerge from a common resource. In each installment, a member of the Global URL Nation provides a sample pack from which other artists are invited to create a new track. 

To initiate the series, we are honored to welcome SNKLS, a French producer blending rich sound designs, intricate drum patterns and synthetic curiosities into unique entities at the crossroads of genres and labels. 

For his participation, he curated not one, but two packs of sounds, made from a selection of Eurorack modules such as Rings, Morphagene or DPO, providing a set of tools, materials and supplies for others to appropriate, upcycle, reuse and combine in order to create their own item. 

The 160 Pack edition gathers Ancestral Vision, Atrice, B E N N, DJ Body Double, dragongirl, El Murki, Lia Catreux, Orqualyzer, RougeHotel, SNKLS, Talita Otović, & VIBRISSE. Bass-heavy club cuts, broken drum patterns and sharp textures deliver a crushing discharge of energy, an eruption of invigorating fluids that seems to emerge from the darkest depths of the underground.

We’re now back with the second edition of traversée - a space for producers to explore their own versatility. A border-free home for artists to share personal ideas, wherever they are from.

For this second volume, we are welcoming nine artists who, altogether, shape the vision of traverse through its diversity of music and places.

PREMIERE : Lia Catreux - Holy Fall

For its 16th instalment, Swiss label CAF? invites DJ duo Charlotte aux Fretz to curate a compilation EP, building bridges between the French and Swiss contemporary club scenes. Ignited while organising and attending free parties, "Rave Alert" covers a whole range of atmospheres one could encounter during these summer nights. From phone-lit forest journeys to sweaty peak-time dance floor moments, all the way to hypnotic sunrises where the first rays of light reshape your surroundings.

Dub-tech master Beatrice M. offers a great opening to the compilation, subtly combining their signature sonic ingredients with your favourite DJ meme. Amor Satyr drastically rises the cruising speed to 175bpm with his d&b infused track, while Lia Catreux follows the pace with a bouncy track that will keep your feet off the floor. The flip side starts with an introspective journey with Spirit Vortex Club's first recorded appearance, while Israfil keeps the energy high (and mercury retrograde away) with an uncompromising rave track. Yolek and Freeky (both previous CAF? contributors) wrap up the release with a slow but heavy closing burner. Last round of applause and you can finally go to bed (you think).

A3 - Lia Catreux - Hell Eraser

Digging into heterogeneous influences with a wide range of intensities, Lia stands out with an unpredictable selection and a mischievous energy, with a strong penchant for futuristic bass, breaks and experimentation with a more or less familiar feel, tinged with 90's to post-internet Rave sounds, all of witch plunges you into a harsh world of fantasy. This past year, she has released her track on labels such as Nehza, Hidden Rhythms, Jerry Horny, as well as Traverse, CAF, and played in November at the Positive Education Festival. Resident of the [re]sources label till the end of 2023 (and their show on Rinse radio), she released « Let In Sink » on their birthday compilation, and is now working on her forthcoming label. She is also the curator of the compilation 'Place: France' for the New York label Air Texture, on which she composed her first track, "United Taste”.
Her work as a producer also includes a track in collaboration with SNKLS on Club Late Music and another for the Lachrymose Rescue label.
