The title track of Lia Rye's debut EP FEVER DREAM. “Fever Dream'' narrates the story of an artist trying to create a masterpiece and frantically struggling with the frustration of failing. Singing “There’s a fine line between perfection and insanity”, Rye perfectly sums up this sentiment. The track is an eclectic mix of sounds.

'Habits' the second single by Lia Rye from her upcoming debut EP FEVER DREAM. ‘Habits’ tells the story of a self-centred person building their own reality to the detriment of others and eventually themselves. By the track’s conclusion, they accept that they’ll never be what others want them to be, defiantly yet sadly welcoming this realisation. The artist shares, “It’s sort of bittersweet as I learnt not to make excuses for unacceptable behaviour, but I had to ponder on the journey it took for me to gain that understanding.” Ultimately, 'Habits' is about not caring what people think no matter whether you’re the villain or the hero.

'Novacaine' is a song which I wrote almost 3 years ago. It is the first song that I ever wrote with my piano (but it is not my first song ever). 

'Novacaine' tells the story of a runaway who is faced with all of the trials of being on the streets whilst finding a way to manage their inner pain. Comfort is temporarily found in harmful things, but in the long run it doesn't work. The song explores dependency and how someone can change their beliefs and morals to find healing but in the end, they're only left with their pain.

Although 'Novacaine' turned into the story above, there are so many interpretations of the lyrics; it's up to you to find your own.

Novacaine

Lia Rye is a 20 year old Leeds based alternative rock artist. Her melodic vocals, insightful storytelling and blasting riffs captivate listeners and audiences alike. Having released her debut single “Novacaine” aged 15, the BRIT School alumna has plenty of "ambition to burn” (Fizzy Mag).

With the formation of a new band, Rye has expanded her musical soundscape and deepened her love for live music. During 2023, Rye and her band explored the Leeds gig circuit. With electrifying performances at venues such as Stylus, Hyde Park Book Club, Lending Room and Northern Guitars under her belt, Lia Rye is taking the next steps in her sonic journey in 2024.
