Adventurer of the wilderness and country blues guitarist from the Thames Estuary.

Liam Heatherson is a bluesman, guitarist, photographer and adventurer from Canvey Island, Essex. He draws from an eclectic range of influences as a thorough-bred muso - most interested in making sense of emotion within geographical environments. He seeks to echo the humble intimacy and rawness of original American country blues, yet presents this through his own Estuary-English twang and attitude.

This may seem like an unlikely combo, but Liam's history-conscious approach is well aware of his locality's rock and roll heritage. Growing up amongst a resurgence of the pub rock scene in local haunts, he interviewed Wilko Johnson and even worked with Dr. Feelgood as a teenage visual creative. He was struck by this music's energy and its romanticised visions of the Thames Delta landscape. This turned him onto older material, finding himself listening to more existential subject matter such as by Blind Willie McTell and Bessie Smith. Liam seeks to channel this humility through a timeless stripped-back sound not restricted by age, race, or place, but only by the human condition. He also reflects traditional British influences, such as elements of comedy and suggestion equally at home in Ian Dury's music-hall as it is in Josh White's hokum blues. As well as being retrospective, Liam treads new ground by incorporating elements of ambient music and spoken word to stir a sense of place mirroring his photographic and videographic pursuits.
