Hailing from Lisbon, Portugal, A.PAUL is one of the most prolific and talented techno artists in the world. With over two decades of experience both as dj and producer, he is today a reference in electronic music, being techno his true passion. He was voted best Portuguese DJ of this style, for several years, and his unique sound, taste, and technique, granted him a position on some of the best mega events like Awakenings (Holland), Evolve (Canada), Nature One (Germany), Rock in Rio (Portugal), Syndicate (Germany), Ruhr-in-Love (Germany), Tecnolandia (Portugal), Aquasella (Spain), Liberty White (Belgium), Decibel (Holland) and clubs like Tresor (Germany), Fabrik (Spain), Row 14 (Spain), Moog (Spain), Panama (Holland), Makumba (Spain), Poema (Holland), U60311 (Germany), Inox (France), Locomia (Portugal), Rocks (Portugal), Kremlin (Portugal), Pacha (Portugal) and many many more.

His first record came out in 1995, followed by the creation of his two most remarkable projects from the 90’s, Squeeze Records and Onh.Cet Records, where he released his next EP’s. Later, In 2005, he started his new label Naked Lunch Records, a true bold project, featuring the best techno artists from the planet, with amazing feedback from DJs and fans. 2012 sees the relaunch of Onh.Cet, joining his other projects Parallel 125, Dirty Ego, The Light e Xtractz. Was also co-founder of MPC Distribution with Cisco Ferreira (The Advent) and Michaelangelo.

A.Paul has released over 100 vinyl records, several mixed CD compilations released in labels like: Kombination Research, Synewave, Planet Rhythm, Italo Business, Pure Sonik, Theory, Mastertraxx, Beat Disaster, Yin Yang, Impact Mechanics, and has remixed artists such as The Advent, Ben Sims, Eric Sneo, Angel Alanis, Orlando Voorn, Damon Wild, DJ T-1000, Virgil Enzinger, Robert Armani, Dave The Drummer, DJ Preach, Mike Humphries, Spiros Kaloumenos, Torsten Kanzler, Bas Mooy, Housemaster Boyz and many more.

Since the turn of the millennium, UK artist Alistair Wells has been putting out a tough and abrasive brand of experimental techno that cannot fail to arrest your attention. Always skewing existing ideas into his own new—often brutalist—ways of thinking, his output has seen him become an in demand live act and DJ who plays across three decks all over the world. He does so under the alias Perc, mostly on his own label Perc Trax, and at the same time he has also brought on a number of likeminded artists from Ansome to Manni Dee. His own catalogue boasts albums like Wicker & Steel and The Power And The Glory, and these have rightfully won him deserved time in the limelight. That fact proves that although Wells has been around for years, he is as vital now as ever. 

As such he brings something new to our mix series across an hour of lively selections. Very quickly settling into a high tempo, high impact groove, there are maximalist techno cuts, passages of angst ridden noise and thumping bangers all bolted together into something uncompromisingly physical and in your face. Franky, it’s a vital visceral offering that would work at any point in the past, present or future of techno.

Solid Steel (9th February) In Hour 1 we welcome Robert Hood, founding member of the legendary group Underground Resistance (with ‘Mad’ Mike Banks and Jeff Mills) following the release of his third and final installment in a trilogy of EP releases for Dekmantel Records, that initially began back in February 2016. 'Paradygm Shift Volume 3' embraces the trademark, minimal, funk techno sounds that defined his earlier career and is an extension on the concept as outlayed by Hood during the project’s conceptual stage: ‘‘The idea behind Paradygm Shift is similar to a shift in our focus. We can become so complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings, I think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset.’’ He’s currently finalising a new EP due for release in April on his own M-Plant label.
