One of my favorite tracks, one of the first riffs I ever learnt to play on guitar.  This song is a fine example of how hard it can be to play just three chords, you have to really hit the guitar hard, it is the most satisfying song to play. There are so many versions of this song, but this one has a good pace, slower than the live version, faster than the original, its got a professional drum and bass track as well so I didn't program that like I usually do... Having listened back to this I feel I could do a much better job and will probably return to it at some point!

Caroline (Status Quo Cover)

Basically just a fun Quo-esq tribute, a better version of Friday which I previously uploaded, I'm yet to add lead but its still fun.

Next Friday (Demo)

It had to be called something... Cool heavy rock song, I wrote and recorded the whole song in about an hour, I then spent about 3 hours editing & mixing it, gave it one final tweak after a nights sleep and a fresh listen and here it is.  I'm actually pretty proud of it despite how simply and quickly it was all done, would you know if I hadn't told you?  

What's in the Garden Shed...

Previously known as 'Lovely Stuff' I finally named it but I still think it could be better, (the song that is!) but here it is again with the lead parts revisited, the last version I recorded was well below standard and I've been meaning to re-do it for a while so here we go.  Probably the best version so far but i'm still not totally satisfied with it. What do you think?

A melodic little thing I had for a while, wanted to develop further but never got further than this, still nice, played with a capo on the 4th I think...

I've added what I think is a better sounding bass guitar throughout and also got rid of the horrible drum fill that ended the first version I uploaded, what was I thinking!? It's sounding better, still couldn't quite do what I wanted with the bass but I was playing on an iPad not an actual guitar...  As always all guitar work is real! Nanana (Status Quo cover)

I've just revisited this song because I started to dislike the drums in the original version, took a suggestion to pump them up a bit as well but also changed them slightly and I think it sounds much better.

In Plain Sight (Re-Edit)

This is a new recording of an old song I originally recorded perhaps 2 years ago, the original version is Take 38 which is still on my soundcloud. This seems to be one of my more popular songs. I've recently upgraded my recording equipment and hopefully you'll agree this sounds a bit better than the original.

Life of a King

When I name my songs I listen back to them and close my eyes and try to let the music create some kind of image in my mind... When I listen back to this song it makes me think of a pilot flying a plane in WW2 deeply involved in a Dog fight in the sky. A fast paced kill or be killed situation. I think the song fits that image quite well.

The Battle of The Broken

This track is based around a nice chord sequence, it's fairly simple although I use quite a few variations so theres quite a lot going on but it all come together really nicely and although it didn't turn out as originally planned I'm very pleased with this recording.

Status Quo cover - Big Fat Mama - One of my favourite Quo songs not too badly interpreted... I've had a go at the solo but need to improve it so have just left this as a Rhythm track for now.

This song is a mash of bits I recorded around the main riff, it almost got scrapped because I didn't like the sound of the guitar - it's the first time I have recorded in Drop D tuning for about 10 years!  But after about 3 days of chopping and editing what was originally recorded in about 20 minutes I think I eventually found something alright... I'm not sure yet, I've heard it too much over the last few days, for now it's the best it can be. But I may feel differently about it next week. Enjoy

The 14th floor

Inspired almost certainly by Status Quo, could you tell? 
I've tried to be experimental... I've done some lead guitar work and included a key change.  As with a few other songs it was not written before recording, I did a couple of takes on rhythm and lead and then worked a bit of magic putting the best bits together, here it is...
