POSTCAST 09  RESIST / THE NEXT LIFE

Backbeat was a monthly event here in Perth, Western Australia a place for Breaks and the promotion of it to like minded people in the club scene. Thanks to one person DJ Gully (RIP) the Breaks scene excelled back in the mid 2000's and one of the acts to brace it's presence was the Beatslappaz. While at that time it was all about the Nuskool/Tearout Breaks the Beatslappaz continued to grow and eventually lead them onto the path of winning a Stanton Warriors remix competition and gaining acknowledgement among their peers leading them to their own EP release on the Punks Music label. This is a rare mix from them, i hope you enjoy !

McTwist is synonymous with Breaks and anything funky. Since 1999, he has hosted an internet radio show which ran for a total of 7 years, played among some of the greatest names in the electronic music industry and has released a bunch of tunes. His work in the studio has produced some serious booty shaking beats. His solo work has gained recognition in the music scene by having charted on Beatport multiple times. The release “Petrol”, produced with Dj Fixx and Keith Mackenzie on Illeven:Eleven records, hit #11 on the Beatport top 100 breaks chart. Beatport Breaks top 100 charter "Here it comes", which was released on Breakz R Boss Records in September of 2014, hit #43. Most recently, he has released a remix for SONEK on Diablo Loco records which which also charted on the Beatport breaks chart. McTwist has had the opportunity to rub shoulders and share decks with the likes of The Stanton Warriors, Krafty Kuts, The Freestylers, K+Lab, Keith Mackenzie, Elite Force, Dj Dan, A.Skillz and Featurecast to name a few.

Well where do i start ? Commonly known as “The Godfather of Breaks” Rennie Pilgrem’s contribution to the early Nuskool Breaks scene is outstanding and given this title is often considered responsible for the creation of the Nuskool Breaks genre. Before moving into breaks Rennie produced techno and acid house and was part of the influential rave group Rhythm Section along with Ellis Dee. Rennie is also the boss of Thursday Club Recordings aka TCR a label which he founded in 1993 which was a major force in the Nuskool Breaks scene. Now concentrating more on his talented art skills Rennie has stepped back from the dance scene and continues to produce some great works of art.

About Sychosis:
SYCHOSIS née Alexander Dias has spent a lifetime in music. Trained classically he toured Europe and North America as part of a boys choir from the ages of 11 to 17. He has spent more than a decade as a part of San Francisco’s thriving Electronic Music scene.
