Released in early 2021 as part of Simos Tagias' "The Purge" EP, the accompanying track "Black Swan" equally caught everyone's attention with it's edgy & sophisticated production quality along with it's mind-bending journey. For Juicebox Music's 47th release, we present new remixes of Simos Tagias' "Black Swan", courtesy of Mike Rish & Praveen Achary.

Making his debut appearance on our imprint is Melbourne (Australia) native - Mike Rish. After a few years of alternate aliases for different sounds, Mike aims at pushing the progressive vibe under his own name & with a few EPs and remixes already under his belt, he's reinforcing the quality-over-quantity mantra. Wasting no time, he released his debut album on UGENIUS Music titled "Interlinked" in early 2021, which rightfully earned the #1 & #2 spots on Beatport's Top 10 Progressive House & Overall Charts, respectively. The LP perfectly encapsulates his love of electronic music, ranging from the depths of rumbling techno to the heights of soaring progressive. Mike Rish's remix for Simos Tagias' "Black Swan" takes all the original memorable moments while adding his own signature flair through a tribal-chugging groove, additional counter-melodies & drone-filled atmospherics. 

Juicebox Music label owner & Bangalore-based artist - Praveen Achary makes his return after a hiatus from producing music, with his last production being a remix of Eric Lune's "Wooden Bird" on our imprint back in 2019. Praveen's body of work contains a number of high-profile features, including Mitch Alexander's "microCastle", Cid Inc's Replug", as well as an official remix of Above and Beyond's "We Are All We Need". Praveen Achary's take on Simos Tagias' "Black Swan" focuses on keeping the main elements slightly intact while retelling the story in a new light with a more aggressive approach.

https://interpret-music.com Following on from their trailblazing debut, the second offering INT02 from Interpret finds Upercent presenting a five-track showcase. Based in València, the Spanish artist has continued to delight forward-thinking music connoisseurs with his daring brand of electronic futurism. An enthusiastic attitude towards experimentation, coupled with extraordinary creative vision has made Upercent one of the more unique artists to emerge in recent years. Continuing to explore and expand his sonic palate, the Valencia resident now returns with the much anticipated ‘Sentit Opost’.

Highly stylized across its five selections, it is the eclectic experimentation of ‘Agrair’ which sets the tone for the release. Backed by a buoyant cadence, a storyboard of stammered vocal edits and fluttery sax riffs delight against a backdrop of exotic drums and percussive fragments. Building with a subdued majesty, its smoky resonance makes you think but also feel, conjuring up otherworldly visions, perhaps from a time we’ve yet to experience. For Upercent, it’s a piece that holds special significance, not only for its arcane nature but for the time in which it was crafted.

Moving forward, Upercent’s avant-garde style raises the bar with the florid sounds of ‘Les Granotes’. Concise and stirring at under six minutes in length, its cerebral nature is enthralling, bound by themes that are both organic and electric. Although a pang of melancholia seeps out of each icy tone, there is a note of jubilance in Upercent’s discombobulated beats and militant design qualities. It’s this limitless exhalation that takes the Valencia resident back to his childhood, reflecting on a time where the roots of this creation ultimately lie.

Spectacular sonic acrobats unite on the project’s third selection ‘Atrapa’, an expression translated from its Valencian origins to ‘addicted to something you like’. Upercent’s rhythmic expression has always been one of his most identifiable and inimitable traits. Here he explores that narrative further with clever coactions between layers of machine-gun-like cadence, morphing vocals and lively percussive splashes. Its adventurous spirit is something Upercent relishes in, as he continues to survey his creative process.

Splitting moods between the exotic and dystopian is ‘Romancer’. A frenetic sci-fi delight, complete with the perfect balance of rhythmic crunch and diabolic distortion. Succinct in delivery and monolithic in design, it etches towards a darker monochrome, perfectly setting the stage for the collection’s closer and most experimental cut ‘Arquitecte’. A unique and entrancing sonic ecosystem accentuated by whimsical vocal fragments and ghostly electronics. A piece where Upercent stretches his creative scope further while remaining fluid within the confines of the release.

Often celebrated for his ability to blend, blur and cross-pollinate genres, Upercent has ventured further with the ‘Sentit Opost’ collection, into a time of true innovation, traversing a multitude of realms and dimensions, while excelling throughout.

HAFT, the Iranian duo of Sam Nasehi and Amir Subb, are known for fusing hypnotic synths, deep- rooted pads, and intricate percussion into a sound that bridges traditional textures with modern progressive house. Their debut three-track EP on Balance Music delivers a journey filled with psychedelic undercurrents and shimmering atmospheres that is crafted equally for the dance floor and for deep listening.

The brooding ‘Driftor’ is designed to nudge any DJ set in the right direction. An off-beat bass drives the engine, allowing you to comfortably sit in the pocket of its inviting narrative. Steely drums and percussion form a cohesive frame, while a bag of tasteful effects, samples, and stabs fill the remaining spaces. Once the breakdown hits, in all its subtlety, you know you’re in the hands of professionals. This is essential prog, designed for any occasion.

There is an undercurrent of psychedelia running through ‘Myntal’, hypnotic and consuming. Low- end frequencies double as notes, merging with the bass to create a dizzying effect. Its main-room identity, however, is confirmed by drums that strut forward with propulsive energy. It all points towards a seductive breakdown, its layering teasing a drop that confirms it: this is designed for floors ready to ignite.

Filled with depth, ‘Prism’ shimmers and shakes as synths and stabs perpetually morph. The result is a continuous stream of sonic moments to lose yourself in. Thankfully, the dense bassline and drums bring you back from the edge of hypnosis, filling the space with an elastic energy as buoyant as a trampoline. Then comes the breakdown: bells dissolve into minor-key haze, half beautiful, half surreal: an inviting dream-logic that is hard to deny.
