A lot of things have been said about Volor Flex, the young Russian producer whose music feels and acts like both a tribute and, at times, a cover of this mysterious iconic musician called Burial whom you might've heard of on previous occasions. 

Some people think "this sounds too much like the original, we don't need copycats" while others went as far as calling it "Burial v2". 
To each his own - the music is shamless and catchy. Have a go at it, leave all bias aside and take it in for how it sounds rather than what it stands for, you'll probably find yourself enjoying it

On ‘The Turn’, Sangam engages all of his craftsmanship to immerse the listener in eight tracks delicate as the morning mist flowing above the worn and cracked pavements of the back-streets of metropolis. Glimpses of hope are as short lived here as they are easy to mistake with occasional puddle reflections of blinking neon signs that still fight to convey their message through darkness that swallowed up half of their letters.

For my Optimix™, I opted to incorporate elements of (and nods to) all the tracks on the EP, in what is otherwise a primarily original composition, meant to complement Raul’s concept. Full of hydraulic concretism, sample-&-hold splurging, vitreous sound-design, cheeky easter eggs, horizontal maximalism, vertical sparseness, and unclassifiable, demolishing rhythmics, it’s everything you might have come to expect from a Tessier-Ashpool Optimix™ (if you’ve been following us closely and have also been reading these).

"Lastly, my Optimix™ of “Fermi” is a cheeky push of its grime elements into the realm of the very obvious, yet without the loathsome rehashing that usually comes with that in the hands of lesser (or more shameless) artists. What I did was try to channel the 2004-ish energy and “production methodology” of grime from scratch, while enriching the original track’s narrative with sound design that timbrally suggests outer-space phenomena."

For my Optimix™, I opted to take the recessive rave traits the original’s musical DNA and make them dominant. Breakbeat hardcore, armor-piercing metallic piano riffs, massive undulating reeses and yardie chants were the order of the day. Or, as Alan put it, “this is some hardcore rave excellence”.
