A Preface, from Ruth:

I wrote this song several years ago after a Marine friend of mine was sent to Afghanistan and I became more aware that people die so that I can live another day in peace. The song has come to mean so much to me over the years as we have seen unimaginable carnage and brutality: bombs at the end of a marathon, children gunned down as requital in gang wars, gunmen in theaters and schools and concerts, rival factions displacing millions. The list is maddening and unending.

As hopeless as I feel looking at the world, there is power in me to be an instrument of peace to my neighbor today. This song is a prayer to the Creator who will make right all that is messed up in this world.
