A key driving force behind the Middle-East's underground scene, Maks recently made his debut at SW30 and SWDUNES. Here is his recording live from SW30!

After spending the first 25 years of his life in London, Maks moved to the Middle-East, quickly establishing himself as a trailblazing and leading artist, and a pillar of the regional community. Considered to be the originator of minimal and microhouse music in the region, Maks paved the way by inviting, and collaborating with, some of his favourite artists from around the world, most of which had never appeared in that part of the world before.

In his early days, Maks was influenced from growing up in the garage and jungle music environment. Today, he draws inspiration from Chilean electronic dance music visionary Ricardo Villalobos, as well as other formidable artists such as  ‘Perlon’ label co-founder Thomas Franzmann aka Zip, ‘Minibar’ label head Cabanne, and ‘Fabric’ & ‘Houghton Festival’ curator and resident DJ Craig Richards.

Bienvenidos de nuevo al podcast, episodio número 26, en manos de Bárbara Álvarez, originaria de Ciudad Juárez, México. Con más de 15 años de trayectoria, nos brinda hoy una gran sesión con muchísimo minimal de principio a fin. Además de ser DJ, es promotora y productora también. Es fundadora de Artistas Desconocidos y Borderline Black Records, un sello que lanzó en 2019 y que ha promovido la escena musical con más de 25 compilaciones digitales y dos vinilos.

Por su parte, ha tenido una gran representación en distintos sellos como Innocent Music, Between Dimensions, Conceptual Records, entre otros. Reconocida como una de las productoras más importantes de la tierra del tequila y los mariachis, esto la ha llevado a presentarse en distintos países de Sudamérica y Europa, con actuaciones en grandes clubes y compartiendo cabina con DJs como Olga Korol, tINI, Steve Bug, y Craig Richards. Sin duda, es una de las pioneras de la electrónica en México, reconocida por su gran dedicación, pasión por la música y siempre impulsando los sonidos underground.
