One to watch, Benk0 is emerging through the London nightlife scene. Co-running party series Folly, Benk0 also hosts radio residencies on The Internet Public Radio and Aaja Deptford. He’s also previously guested on Kindred Radio and Noods as well as releasing on Slippery Sounds with Blokssom. You’ll be able to catch Benk0 at Venue MOT on the 1st April for the first Folly party of the year, playing alongside Otik, Beneath, Ifeoluwa, k means and Folly residents. 

Speaking about his approach to this mix, Benk0 says, “I wanted to explore the eerie, deconstructed and experimental sounds that inspire me , with each blend taking the listener to new and unexpected soundscapes. A mix full of dubbed out, percussive, pumpy and bassy tracks that spam a wide range of different genres and tempos. I wanted to capture the essence of the type of nights i like to attend  and play at, from warm up to peak time.”

Each month, Resident Advisor reviews a number of standout EPs, albums and singles, but there are some that resonate with us more than others. In this episode, our in-house music critics Andrew Ryce and Kiana Mickles join RA's Senior Producer, Chloe Lula, in a deep dive into the releases that they considered to be the most noteworthy from this month: Surgeon's new LP, Crash Recoil; Fever Ray's much-anticipated new full length, Radical Romantics; and I. JORDAN and SHERELLE's split two-tracker. 

Beyond just assessing the music itself, we also debate bigger questions that these works raise. We discuss how some of this month's music invokes themes of love, romance and desire—which are relatively new to the electronic music underground; how representations of queerness are shifting in the contemporary music landscape; and the perennial pop-electronic music crossover, which has defined the contours of the last few weeks' worth of releases yet again. @rodmanmx is a DJ and producer from Mexico City. Founding member of DJ duo @encarta-97 (alongside Superplasticfantastic @pedrocenal )

Even though music has always been in Rodrigo Gutierrez’ life. (In the early 2000s he was part of surf/rock band, Delishus Hombres Lobo) It wasn’t until more recent years where he rediscovered electronic music through the Mexican underground party scene.

 His sound focuses mainly on rhythm, groove and polyrhythmic patterns across different music genres such as bass, dub, techno and house. We can hear some of this references in his latest EP "La Fragua" released on @discos-sentimiento this past March and with an arm of upcoming releases on  Cluster Traxx (FR) and Ineffable (MX)you should be on the lookout for him.
