INTRODUCTION

I know this might seem uncomfortable for some, especially Ladies, but at this point I can not continue without teaching you what I feel is the greatest lesson you will ever know, and perhaps one of the most difficult to learn. This is where the theme of this song WAMBOI lays. I’d like to talk with you about the subject of LOVE. For those of you who think love may not have much relevance in one’s life let me assure you the connections are there. Christ asked a certain lawyer who stood to test HIM ‘’what is written in the law? What is your reading of it?’’ The lawyer answered ‘’you shall love Jehovah God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with your entire mind and your neighbor as yourself.’’ LUKE 10:26, 27. The love I speak of must not be confused with the emotions of sex, the love to which I refer to is the ‘élan vital’ the life giving factor, the spring of action of all the creative endeavors which have lifted humankind to its present state of refinement and culture.

WAMBOI IN CHARACTER

Wamboi is a Kenyan name from the tribe of Kikuyu Origin from the clan of Amboi given to female offspring’s. Wamboi is depicted by Lidanjam Raah the writer of this song as symbolizing the modern African lady set out in the 21st century to make something out of herself by all means, regardless of traditions and calture of the African people. Love doesn’t have any relevance in the life she has set nor do moral values apply to the life she leads, she is lost and conformed to earthly material things, yet ironically LOVE, MARRIAGE and WEALTH are what she desires most. ‘’And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Jehovah God’’ Romans 12:2. Wamboi symbolizes the self distractive trend taken up by modern independent African women in search of individual life advancement without self consciousness.

WAMBOI MUSICAL ASPECT

Lidanjam Raah the writer of this song depicts himself as being in love and as the fiancé of Wamboi , she is also depicted as being the fiancée. The Fiancé in the song right from the introduction part is urging Wamboi to listen keenly to the important words he has to convey for the message he has is intended for her. Right in the 1st verse The writer as the fiancé urges Wamboi NOT to be conformed by worldly things as He confesses his undoubtedly strong love for her, Right in to the chorus where he goes on and tries to get her attention and urges Wamboi to love Jehovah God more than worldly possessions which is vanity. In the 2nd verse the writer talks of the love of the most high, whereby if Wamboi would find it automatically would lead to Wamboi loving him better and the fact that true strength of a woman is expressed through submission not pride and rivalry. In the 3rd verse, the writer intends to guide Wamboi from a groupie to a empress settings through self realization and proper deportment. In the last verse which is the 4th verse, the writer is seen as urging her to take these lessons to heart and change into what she desires to attain out of life, to embrace the Africa in her and the culture and not be taken for a ride by western desires and lifestyles.

CONCLUSION

LOVE MAKES ALL HUMANKIND RELATED. IT CLEARS OUT SELFISHNESS, GREED, JEALOUSY AND ENVY. TRUE GREATNESS WILL NEVER BE FOUND WHERE LOVE DOES NOT ABIDE.

To explain the Message of this song we must look at the history of Kenya we must go right to the start, to the dawn of mankind. The Cradle of Mankind (4,400,000 B.C.-50,000 B.C.). 
 When Kenya  together with other African states  were collectively Known as Aethiopia or Cush in the Bible. The Cradle of Mankind but I know it is not possible to write all that history for you here probably it would take a life time, that’s why its so convenient to sing about it, but before we get to listen to the song, let me prepare your mind, let me give you a little insight  because I can only brush at the surface as fur as History is concerned, shall we?
Stone and a Sling.. am sure what comes into your mind is the story of a young  Man whom YHWH Blessed and saw a great King in him, whereby HE established HIS Kingdom on earth through this young boy The Lion of Judah. Am sure you are familiar with the story of David and Goliath. Just like the title, stone and a sling is a symbol depicting humble weapons used to defeat a mighty enemy, suggesting even though we would want to be seen as mighty men God works in humble ways.
As Africans we have faced so many obstacles, problems (Giants) brought about by colonial master and slave masters through out the years, all we had is a stone and a sling which the Freedom fights The Mau Mau worriers used to defeat the Giant and gained freedom that we enjoy today, just like our brothers and sisters across Africa, The Shona of Zimbabwe, The Zulu of South Africa just to mention a few. 
When you listen to this song it takes you back to the rich African story, Our Grandfathers fought for our physical freedom. Now its up to us to fight for our mental freedom, through Educating ourselves of our history and culture, for this songs reminds the people who we are as a continent as a people and that Africa is the richest continent on the planet, Africa resources built Europe, America etc  and still Africa stands. This song is like an audio book set in different cultures and language Kikuyu of Kenya, Shona of Zimbabwe, Patwa and English.

People mostly believe dreams are just visions of the mind. They dismiss dreams because they end when they wake up but amazingly one of the things we have been given as humans is the unquenchable desire to have dreams of a better life and the ability to establish goals to live out those Dreams.
What makes this more powerful is that we have also been given the ability to not only dream but to pursue those dreams. We know our dreams by not listening to others but listening to ourselves because if we listen to others we can never be fulfilled. We will only chase elusive dreams that are not rooted deep within us. We must listen to our hearts.

In this song Lidanjam also outlines the obstacles that hinder people from achieving there Dreams and goals. He urges the youths to motivate themselves, be strong and prayerful during hard times instead of giving up on there dreams.
Lidanjam Goes on and thanks God for making him somebody from nobody, from nothing to something as he says in the song “where me come from me no have nothing, you made me somebody from nobody thank you most high God father.”
He says talents are God given and should be used to the fullest though some us don`t see the use or believe in themselves. He also outlines some of his personal goals, he wants to motivate, educate, entertain, live a good life and never waste his Dreams.

Lidanjam Raah is Kenya’s international fine arts practitioner, artist and designer.  who was born in Thika, Kiambu County  central Kenya,Grew up at the coast  in Mombasa county and now lives in Nairobi Kenya. As a Musician/Recording and performing artist,professional Editor/designer among est other titles.
He has worked with various producers from Kenya and abroad on a number of projects, Jsmall Records based Jamaica headed by Owen smalls, Time Unit Records based in Jamaica headed by Neutron Obliv, Bling Records based in Berlin Germany among est other international record lables.

In KENYA he has successfully worked with: Vineyard Records/Kerry Nanjero, 
Greenhouse Records/Chapattizo, Kgrecords/Totti, JungleMasters/EmmyD & PrinceAdio, 
Nakaki Ent & ReplyMedia/JeffSantana, Music Factory/Keno, Aworld/Edward Ananda, MelodyHouse productions/Victor Kihiu among other sound engineers and production lebels.

He is a positive minded artist painter designer who insists on a positive environment before undertaking any project. During his free time he enjoys to read books ranging from inspirational/motivational to comical materials, drawing and painting is his thing to and definitely listening and creating music among other hobbies
