A big thrill this week to welcome an exceptional progressive artist to our MPV series!
 
Andrés Moris is a DJ/producer from Argentina, located in the province of Córdoba in the center of the country. He began his career at the age of 16 after experimenting with heavy metal music and finding his way into electronic music.

His style was influenced by several greats on the scene, leading him to his main genre, progressive house.

After several years perfecting his sound, he managed to reach the hands of the greats of the genre, obtaining support from artists such as Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Guy J, John Digweed, Nick Muir and many more.

Guided by self-teaching and constant work, music never leaves the room.

This set is extra special for us as the artist gave us the incredible gift of remixing one of his own tracks especially for this set – today you will hear “Andrés Moris – Blue Park (Intro Mix)” for the first time and (so far) only here. Thanks Andrés.

"Pink Floyd has played a huge role in both our lives. It's been opening our eyes to some of the absurdities of modern society, but also helped overcome the resignation that comes with it. Pink Floyd also helped go through difficult times and all albums had a different impact: Wether it was 'The Wall', 'Animals', or 'The Piper at The Gates of Dawn'... We felt the necessity to give something back and do it right, taking our time and showing respect to such masterpieces.

This tribute project started in 2014 when Mynox was producing on his own in Montreal. 2 minutes were arranged but the project got dropped for 3 years. In 2017, while sorting old Ableton files and samples, we decided to take this one project, dust it off and finalize it in our own esthetics.

Working on Pink Floyd material is both easy and extremely challenging. Easy because the musicality and quality of the samples is remarkable and difficult because one wants to stay true to the original and show some respect to this unique band that has been influencing the world for decades.

The song has two parts that try to achieve different things. The first one is close to the original, following vocals and the arrangement that is to be found on The Wall (Part II of the original).

A bridge helps transition into a more chaotic, psychedelic second part in which we took some freedom and created a deeper atmosphere. The goal was to build everything from scratch while keeping a reference to the original with the processed hypnotic vocals. This part originally featured an original guitar solo (actually two...) but we decided to take them off and keep the solos for the live renditions. Liddle Rascal's no stranger to the land of trance and progressive. After hearing a CD with the 1999 Spundae Studio set by Hybrid in early '00, he was hooked. He danced from genre to genre. Breaks, Trance, Hard Dance, House, finally landing in his genres of choice, Deep Progressive House and Minimal Progressive Trance. After learning how to mix, he made a brief foray into the land of internet radio as a guest on LRCN's 4x4 Show on Afterhours.fm and a short lived live internet series called The Absinthe Sessions. Shortly thereafter, life caught up to him. He disappeared off the face of the EDM for years only to re-emerge, determined to resurrect The Hookah Clan and committed to spreading the Progspel across the globe, one set at a time.

In a quest to get in touch with his musical roots, he recently sprung on an idea for a new series of DJ sets called The Mixumentaries. This unique series gives the listener a glimpse into the mind of producers by spotlighting artists and laying a interview with them over the top of a set comprised solely of their music. He's also begun taking baby steps back into the world of internet radio appearing as a guest on Blake Baltimore's Abandon Logic show on DI.fm. Not much else is known about him other than his love for music. "I typically play my sets close to my chest, but it's time to get out there and start spread the Progspel again" he said.

According to Liddle Rascal, life is like his favorite DJ set... He's stuck in the transition waiting for the beat to drop.
