ARTIST’S NOTE: 
I composed Drift one afternoon in May when I was literally adrift in disappointment, feeling low, uninspired, and fatigued. Empty. How could I create when I was so low? And a thought rang back answering like a bell  — just show up!

All I had to do, my inner voice told me, was show up, put your fingers on the keyboard for a moment. And I did, using the laptop’s built-in MIDI, selecting a VST called Cinema Strings, instinctively I hit an F6 chord — I have an affinity with the key of F because, as a student, I played French Horn, an F instrument. So I’m pressing the keys, and by a slow count of eight of the metronome’s clicks — bam! The music started playing in my head as if already written. I raced to unravel it in threads of melodies, searching for keys that matched what I was hearing in my mind’s ears.

The lesson for me as an artist is to remember to keep faith despite how I might feel. Because the music is waiting for a humble vessel. Just show up.

Recorded early this morning on my phone, a simple take when it was quiet.
I am finding it quite difficult to play my guitar now because of my arthritis, so  good to play a little.

This song was written by Craig Pate in 1987 - He sang all the vocals and played all the instruments with the exception of Lead Guitar which I played. It's a great retro hard rock song with that heavy rock guitar sound that I love! No A.I. cheating here guys, instruments are actually played!  WOW! 🤯 We really need to bring back hard driving guitars and lead guitars in music. I remixed the song and added an outro section during the credits from another song of mine called "Lady Green" recorded in 2017 for the my album "Vulcan Mind Meld".

The video was originally produced in 2022 but I added several little bits and pieces here and there and added some sound effects like a Theremin at the end. Overall the video has been enhanced for your viewing pleasure! I was still getting used to making videos back then so keep that in mind while watching it. It drops this weekend! It was a really fun track to record and I thank Craig for giving me the lead guitar part and for letting me produce the video. My EP SUPERNOVA contains two Japanese songs, and this is one of them. I have never released a song in Japanese before, but I took the plunge and decided to release these. It's a song recorded in one take with my acoustic guitar and vocal. The tempo is middle tempo (I didn't use the metronome function so I don't know the BPM). 3m58s. The main genre is Folk. Hello. I love different kind of music and try no to stay in a comfortable style. In a song my priorities go to melody and harmony but what counts in the end is the emotional impact of the song. I do everything by myself with my DAW and i am therefore also interested by tips in mixing or on composition. I'd be glad to share advises and receive feedback and comments. Wish you all the joy and pleasure that only music can bring. 

Those who inspired me and who always have a special place in my mind for their whole creation and their wonderful melodies : Alan Parsons Project, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush. I tried some covers to remember some of their songs.

I must say that i am a bit disapointed by GenAI nowadays applied to artistic creation. I think there is already too many sounds on soundcloud that was one of the last place for 'real' artists, i mean human. This is so easy and quick to release something that it will soon overwhelm and discourage all newcomers and I really hate to be cheated by an AI when i listen to a voice. When i was young the promese about robots was to make them do what was painfull and what we dislike (hard and dangerous physical work), but never art ! And now we will soon have machine to have fun and we will keep the hard work
