Charon's Lot ♫ collaboration with ImpulseGame

The ferryman of Hades who carries the souls of the newly deceased who had the rites of burial, across the river Acheron (or in some later accounts, across the river Styx) that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead.

A coin to pay Charon for passage, usually an obolus or danake, was sometimes placed in or on the mouth of a dead person. Some authors say that those who could not pay the fee, or those whose bodies were left unburied, had to wander the shores for one hundred years, until they were allowed to cross the river.

In the catabasis mytheme, heroes – such as Aeneas, Dionysus, Heracles, Hermes, Odysseus, Orpheus, Pirithous, Psyche, Theseus and Sisyphus – journey to the underworld and return, still alive, conveyed by the boat of Charon.

*The original part was put together over about a 4-6 week span & then sat around for a month or two at which time I considered ImpulseGame a great candidate for the collaboration. After contacting ImpulseGame on SoundCloud the track was sent since there was interest.

A few days later all tracks were received back from ImpulseGame for the collaboration and all engineering/mixing was done over about a week's time. A final part was composed (9 low grumble/rows and 6 grumbles from Charon) for the end to compliment the intro 9 muted gong hits to go along with the energy noise / water droplets - that was a whole lot... enjoy!

Stardust Reunion

When I was a kid my family took a road trip to Las Vegas to meet our old neighbors from California. 

While walking through a casino I stopped to look at a giant slot machine which was overwhelming to me at that time. I turned to look for my family/neighbors and everyone was gone.

I walked around the casino though could not find a security guard or anyone that could help. I then proceeded outside thinking I could find our hotel (not even realizing how spread out Las Vegas is in area).

I remember walking for about 30 minutes. I came up to a street and stopped to look both ways. A police officer came pulling up to the stop sign. I went over to the vehicle. I let him know what had happened and he asked if I would like to hop in to see if we could find my hotel. I jumped into the police cruiser and we drove for about an hour at which time we approached the Stardust casino/hotel sign which I remembered. I told him "that's the place".

The officer walked me into the lobby and my dad was in there attempting to get help from local authorities on the phone (the kind that connects to the wall). We were so happy to be reunited. The rest of the trip was a lot of fun. I was never really worried or concerned and now that I look back I wonder how many bad things could have happened had I not crossed that officer's path. I wish I had his name to this day.

Dust and debris from comets brought together to form planets (perhaps?)... the same carbon that's in our bodies calls to us and leads us if we listen. Though my path was uncertain I walked those streets certain that I would find my family and it happened.... brought back together like a cosmic bang! - so magical and the Universe such an amazing place however it all came together like me and my family being reunited at the Stardust so long ago.

The Stardust closed at the end of 2006 and was demolished on March 13th, 2007. Have spent many family & friend trips in/passing though Las Vegas. I have had ups-&-downs there though will always have that memory of being 'lost in Las Vegas'... well at least for a short time.

Star Of Christ

The Star Of Bethlehem or Star Of Christmas... truly a topic of mystery (possibly a one time occurrence like an angel or a conjunction of stars or comet) as to what the shepherds saw in the night sky!?

The star leads them to Jesus' home in the town of Bethlehem, where they worship him and give him gifts.

I have been working on this song for a little over 3 years (started in 2017; approximately 520 revisions) leading up to the coming event that I will mention below.

Look up at the night sky on December 21st, 2020 and you may see something truly spectacular.

The planets of Jupiter and Saturn will appear on the winter solstice to be so close from Earth that they’ll look like one gigantic shining star, even though they’ll actually be 450 million miles apart.

The so-called “Great Conjunction” last happened in 1623 though could not be seen from Earth. Before that, the phenomenon previously occurred on March 4, 1226.

2020’s celestial event has been christened by some astronomers as the “Christmas Star” or “Star of Bethlehem,” due to its proximity to Christmas Day.

Alignments between these two planets are rather rare, occurring once every 20 years or so, but this conjunction is exceptionally rare because of how close the planets will appear to one another.

On the evening of closest approach on Dec 21 they will look like a double planet, separated by only 1/5th the diameter of the full moon.

Look for them low in the southwest in the hour after sunset on December 21st. The two giant planets will appear just a tenth of a degree apart — that’s about the thickness of a dime held at arm’s length.

Viewing conditions will be better for those people who view it closer to the equator.

The spectacle will next reportedly occur on March 15, 2080 then after that it’s a bit of a longer wait — until the year 2400.

Joannes Kepler asserted that on August 22nd, 7 B.C. that there was a conjunction of Jupiter & Saturn. On that day every planet would have been in it's own sign which would have been an extraordinary birth chart as far as planetary alignment. 

Astrologers believe that someone born under this conjunction of planets would be destined to change the world.

Star Of Christ

Saturn Moon

Spent days and nights for months researching Saturn, which is the sixth planet in our solar system, before beginning / during composition of this song. 

Dreaming about the planet with rings of galactic debris. Part of my interest was sparked by the conjunction of Saturn with Jupiter (on December 21st, 2020) which was a sight to behold.

A while ago astronomers discovered that it may actually have more moons (some called "shepherd moons") than Jupiter though they are still attempting to confirm as there are many pending validation but it's widely believed to most likely be the case.

Spent time arranging this song so that the listener would feel like they were taking a voyage through the planet's system to experience the diversity of the gas giant's immense & vastly inter-tangled satellites ranging from dust particles to planets of which Titan is the 2nd largest in our solar system.
