Tibi Dabo unveils his long-awaited full-length ‘Vista’ on Crosstown Rebels this September, with the  kaleidoscopic nine-track album showcasing his diverse and rich sound palette.  

Born in Barcelona, DJ, producer, and musician Tibi Dabo has proven himself adept at mixing the classic and the cutting-edge. From  his early days touring Europe and the US with a band in which he plays the drums, the foundation for his experimentation for his work  within the electronic sphere, he has since grown to become an exciting and much-loved DJ and producer, adding to his growing  reputation as a Crosstown Rebels favourite. Stepping things up once more, his spirited new album ‘Vista’ is a perfect fusion of  futuristic synths and compelling house grooves, all of which are masterfully designed and full of character. Following three well received singles across the summer, the full-length is a complete sonic statement that explores deep house, leftfield sonics and  widescreen cosmic vistas.  

Opener ‘Water Is’ layers up fresh sound sources and playful melodies on nimble basslines that soon make you move. ‘Somewhere  Beach’ is then a silky groove layered up with diffuse pads and aching synths that convey real romance, while ‘Licht’ is another  masterful display of original drum programming with bursts of cosmic synth and elastic bass. ‘Useless Ideas’ then gets deeper on  more low-key drums and bass. Instead, the focus is on the deft percussion and well-treated vocals that swirl and smudge around the  mix to a woozy late-night effect.  

The elegant ‘Mundo’ channels the machine soul of early Detroit techno, before ‘Mangabeira Manifesto’ featuring Dudu Bongo layers  up wonky drums and bass with curling, soft acid sounds and a playful vocal line. There is heartbreak in the melancholic chords and  broken beat funk of ‘Diamond Baby’ while ‘Triple Frontier’ picks up the pace and heads out on a high-speed cosmic house journey, all  before ‘Overture’, another far-sighted astral trip with starry melodies and rich, rubbery bass, closes the package in fine style. 

An expressive and adventurous yet coherent long player with a range of moods, feelings and grooves taking you to all corners of the  house world, ‘Vista’ showcases Dabo’s most in-depth project to date and an album which provides the perfect platform for him to  display his rich sonic universe.

'After an amazing festival season, with DJ after DJ dropping Abel’s last output ‘CAN’T LET YOU GO (FEAT. RONA RAY)’, we’ve some exciting development to disclose. We’re elated to announce that two of our favourite remixers have joined the ‘COSMIC LAW' lineup and will be remixing Abel’s ‘JAZZ IN THE ROOM’.  

Although no introduction is needed, for the second time on the label, we’re more than stoked to welcome back the mighty ‘JIMPSTER’ on remix detail. ‘JIMPSTER’ does what only he can do, and he loads us with an outstanding arrangement and re-composition of Abel’s original. With layers almost impossible to unpeel, the groove is locked down tight. This rendition will undoubtedly become a mainstay for the true deep-house heads.  

To enhance this offering further, our very own ‘PEACEY' steps up to the mixing desks. We’re incredibly proud of his almost untouchable quality of work, and this time ‘PEACEY’ turns out a brilliant remix-dub which builds gently, yet demonstrates total direction throughout. '

The Weather Report, Vol. 1

If you’ve recently been feeling like there is something in the air, your gut feeling is absolutely right. The Weather Report vol. 1 presented by Musumeci is already here to electrify your body. Released under the umbrella of Engrave Ltd music, new EP series features 4 collaboration tracks created by Musumeci himself and his much talented pals Phunkadelica, Alican, Ayala and Enzo Elia.

The Weather Report vol. 1 opens with “This Track”. A true climate changing collab with Phunkadelica, in which Jackin’ House beats and syncopated synth baseline provide a background for some Basement Jaxx stabs reminiscence, along with a classic rave chords' progression. A sexy vocal delivered by Ready in Led is a cherry on top, inviting to dance along. You just can’t say no to that!

The next atmospheric phenomenon in the report is “I’ll Be There”. The track is a blend of musical visions of Musumeci and Alican that resulted in something new and exciting for both of them. A bold mix of Acid bass line, housy groove and bouncing chords makes a solid ground for Nick Maurer's vocals - dark and deep speech alternating to a delicious soulful hook.

Musumeci just keeps on going, as “Don’t Stop” featuring Ayala is yet another banging position on the list. It represents Afro & Disco influences of both artists and has an unexpected punk edge and attitude. Straight beats, funky bass line, steady arpeggios, brass sections and rebel vocal samples create a sophisticated folk atmosphere hard to resist.

Last, but not least, “The Super Heavy Rundfunk” by Musumeci & Enzo Elia. An exploration of glorious “French touch”, which resulted in a monster club tune full of pure rave energy. Combining funk, electro and keyboards improvisations with uplifting screams and shouts vocal samples, the duo is guaranteed to have control over the dance floor and take the audience for a 6-minute-long ride full of madness.
