After the warm and beautiful indie leaning EP from Dead Heat, Life and Death steps back up to the plate with two fresh dancefloor killers found in Mind Against's new Avalon EP. 

With sounds that seem plucked from an early 80s children's filmstrip gone very wrong (or perhaps very very right) Mind Against weave a dark, inspired charge into the black of night with both sides of this stunning EP.

On the A side is Several Times, a techno gem that comes out of the gate at breakneck pace with solid drums, bass and a rhythmic synth pulse that evolves slowly and strongly until finally augmented by a main analog synth line that reaches over from the other side and grabs you directly by the ears. It's an evocative melody that keeps the listener on edge with tones that are fully present yet almost barely hold together, teetering just on the edge of falling apart but never quite falling away from just where they need to be. A techno themed soundtrack to a disturbing Groundhog Day of the faraway future.

Over on the B side is the EP's namesake with a simmering sound that makes reference to the ancient island home of legendary sorceress Morgan Le Fey, sister of the famous King Arthur and whose mystic ways were to blame for mirages seen by sailors long out at sea. Here again an analog synth casts its spell on the listener, framed by delayed chords and a foreboding low end growl that slowly tell the tale of Avalon. Managing the difficult task of painting a picture without form, Mind Against weave an emotional drama without words and yet their vocabulary of sound seems keenly up to the task. No easy feat but one this duo have proven again and again that they are more than able to accomplish.

Die drei Mechaniker der Zeit, „Talas“, „Levi“ und „Bakaiata“, werden in den Stücken durch ihr monotones Stampfen dreidimensional spürbar. Zu Anfang noch in tickenden Sekunden, nehmen sie immer mehr an Fahrt auf und schließlich rinnt die Zeit durch die Hände, verfliegt. „Wir haben uns nicht hingesetzt und beschlossen „jetzt machen wir eine EP!““, erklären die beiden Musiker. About the EP :

The 150th release on Ritter Butzke Studio welcomes the high talented dutch duo Mononoid to the label. First conceptualized in 2011, Andy Godderis and Igor Shumlyanskiy make up the Mononoid production duo. With recent releases, including their first album, on Einmusika Recordings, Lost & Found, Traum Schallplatten and remixes on a lot of other top notch labels it is no wonder that these two heroes are welcomed guests at every occasion. Their unique mixture of cinematographic and melodic techno forms highly enjoyable rides throughout every night. With the first track from this EP, 'Avoidless', they extracted the exact zeitgeist from the dancefloor to the studio, creating a driving Techno Bomb with a very catchy melody. 'Silent Truth' comes with a a deeper, mysterious atmosphere, that takes you on a thought provoking journey. The proof and at the same time the accolade for Mononoid comes with the last track of the EP and the Remix from electronic legend Petar Dundov.
