Not So Obvious #010 - Mundo D

Duro is honored to present the birth of the “Baba” brotherhood. During the last pandemic year, Rina traveled from Tel Aviv to Portugal, where he met Switchdance. After some trips around the beautiful city of Lisbon, plates and plates of hummus and samosa, a visit to pick up raspberries at a field that used to be a medicinal cannabis farm and lots of hours in Switchdance's studio, 'Baba Music Vol. 1' was alive.

The journey initiates with the Portuguese version of "Give Way", a cut that narrates the moment when you are in a high state of mind and try to describe the process to get back to reality. For this version the duo worked with vocalist Abrão, where a deep and resonant bass, a synthesized voice, electric and acid melodies, and distant pads run through the space. It’s followed by the Hebrew version of "Give Away" where Rina takes control of the vocals. 

"Reak" means "empty" in Hebrew, the cut refers to a state of consciousness where there is nothing in the brain. Playful percussion, acid basslines mixed with digitally distorted synthesizers create the sensation of breaking out reality, an experience blended with algorithms, binary codes and atomized sounds where it is hard to distinguish the realness. A roar to all the Babas around the world to gather on the dance floor. 

To consummate the brotherhood with an embellishment, master Jonathan Kusama came up with two versions of "Give Way". The first one is a futuristic and dystopian dub masterpiece, with distorted bass lines, shady vocals and liquid percussion. For the second version Kusama brings up the energy and keeps the bass flickering and harsh, mixed with mind-bending and unhinged synthesizers.

And it was not in fact an olive branch in its beak, but a stick of fine cannabis sativa! The boatman's name was not Noah, twas Todd, and, lo and behold, what was this land gringo-Todd washed upon amidst the churning seas of God's wrath at his creation? México! Todd was quickly scooped up off the beach by the Mixtec royal watch, brought to the capitol in the finest robes of the New World kingdom, and promptly sacrificed to the auspicious gods by having his living heart reaped from his chest and burnt in a gold urn at his side. These days you won't find too much blood sacrifice out in the open down here, but if you have pure intention and grace, you can find your way to class A synthetic injections of the sort @Pvlomo and his staff offer here at Clínica @Controlla...

Feed Your Head Kane FM with guests The Two Mamarrachos

Formed in 2014 by Alberto Iovine and Alessandro Fumagalli, italian duo Modular Project have become one of our favourite producers of the moment, with a sound defined and built around synths & drums, heavily influenced by New Wave and the Italo disco sound of the 80’s.

Among their latest releases, you can find a remix to Blond:ish's classic ‘Wizard of Love’ released on Rebirth Records or appearances on labels such as hfn, Beachcoma or Parisian label, Motordiscs.

Honchos behind their own label 'Nothing Is Real' since 2018, where as it's happening with their own productions, are consistently included on Beatport's main charts.

We've been in discussion with them about hosting a mix for a while so we're delighted to finally present it.

It took little to no time for Belgian-born talented DJ and eclectic electronic music producer to stand out through the originality of his creations. An ambitious and determined individual whose skill and artistic direction has also leaned into creating a music agency and label based in Bangkok, Thailand.

Successfully blending melodious and decadent music, every one of David Garcet's tracks plunges its listeners in his very personal, sexy and emotionally charged universe. A modern artist with regular releases, he is a key music producer and DJ in the electronic music scene, whose attention-grabbing music holds great surprises for music enthusiasts worldwide. Over the years he has productively released a number of noteworthy tracks and remixes of tracks by the likes of Haze-M Thodoris Triantafillou, Batsi Grub, Garance, Ron Flatter, Sid le rock, Juan Deminicis, Kolombo and many more. He has had several fruitful mentions on Niconé’s renowned label Dantze, as well as numerous remarkable releases on the prominent Progressive House label Manual Music. Not to mention a significant track record in other music labels including Tulipa recordings, Emerald & Doreen and of course Jane Music Agency, the latter being a fruit from his own labour.

His music experiences and maturity landed him on some of the region’s most illustrious stage. Through these experiences he noticed just how profoundly the music landscape in Asia was developing to welcome less mainstream genres. Inspired by this growth, David Garcet in partnership with Mjane created Jane Music Agency, an establishment that acts as a bridge between the electronic music industry in Europe and Asia. Inevitably becoming a pioneering venture that is helping shape the Asian underground music scene all whilst contributing to the industry in Europe, pushing the boundaries in both markets to explore and unveil fresh talent for global music fans. What started as an artist agency rapidly developed into a music label. The announcement of the label’s official creation was followed shortly after by the gleeful revelations of several EP releases, curated by artists on the label. The first of which “Tokniko” is a track produced by Mjane and David Garcet, due for release on 6th March 2020 with a series of impressive remixes by K.E.E.N.E., Samer Soltan and The Timber Taal. The second EP will follow shortly after, “Another Line” by David Garcet and Marie Lenoir is set to be issued on 15th May 2020, with remixes by Haze-M, Thodoris Triantafillou and Just Her. With so many exciting announcements already being shared, there is no doubt there are more bombshells heading our way in the near future!
