Lighter Sight are an alternative rock band based in Johannesburg with members from Jo’burg, Port Elizabeth and London. Inspired by the local music industry and artists, Lighter Sight are spreading their music across the country in this new phase of their band journey.

Frontman, Justin Du Preez, has had a passion and a vision for Lighter Sight since 2013 when he began writing songs for the band. In 2014, Shannon Wellby came on board as bassist, having met and played with Justin on various tours with other bands across Europe and South Africa. In 2015, the guys found their drummer, Kenton Pickering, and the band was complete.

Having all come from completely different musical backgrounds, each band member brings something different and special to the sound and character of Lighter Sight. Between them, the band members have performed over 1 000 live shows worldwide.

Lighter Sight’s music can be described as commercial rock, with a twist. Their debut, self-titled album, “Lighter Sight”, is due to be released later this year, as well as a national tour. Look out for singles “Stars” and “Wind” off their new album over the next few months.
