This is a jazz retro piece that I wrote over a period of about a year.  It took a while because the chord progression kept presenting challenges, and numerous revisions were made. Serendipity (Summer's Eve)

Most songwriters are influenced by artists that they listened to alot when they were younger.  That is the case with this song.  Can you guess the band or artist that was key to the origination of this song?  The song is about a falling out in a relationship.  The music came to me first and then the words.  Don't like to dwell on the past but I guess the feelings and the impressions came through almost subconsciously.  

Denouement (That Way)

Sometimes a songwriter will get a great idea from trying to figure out a song that he or she recently heard.  This is an example of this, although I must admit that what I ended up with sounds nothing like the song that inspired me.  I guess I was in a melodic fingerpicking kinda mood.  The song lends itself to further development - a vocal and/or overlapping harmonies.  At some point I plan on re-recording this piece with a small orchestral arrangement.  Nothing too fancy.  I've also added a short bridge that adds some interest.  Hope you enjoy it and I welcome your impressions.

Afterthought

I wrote this song about 10 years ago as I was learning and experimenting with what a friend refers to as "friggin' Berklee chords," referring to the college of music located in Boston where there's a predominantly jazz influence.  The lyrics are a tiny bit corny, with many references to food, which I guess I associate strongly with a sense of home, especially if you hang around the refrigerator which I tend to do from time to time.  The song was originally intended for female lead vocals, so if any one is in the mood for laying down some vocal tracks please let me know.  This is a slightly revised version (with some real-life recorded birds in the background, and I lowered the bass track a touch ‘cause it seemed a bit too overpowering in the original uploaded track)…

Right Here at Home

I was in a Brazilian sort of mood when I wrote this song. It started with a classical guitar in my hand and a bossa nova rhythm. Didn't want to get too bouncey, just wanted to keep things smooth and swelling - something made me feel like I was near the shore and the lyrics followed.  This is a bossa nova jazz-pop song with some serious groove. But what makes it really special is the lead singer, Tashunda, who I am so privileged to have the chance to record songs with. We hope you enjoy it.
