Ira and I are excited for the upcoming release of our first single together, "Emerald Days". We started writing this song in November of 2023. This has been such a fun song to work on together! Working with Ira on these songs has been very inspiring!! AND, much thanks to our producer Simon Eugene, for putting in the work to help bring our vision to life.

 Ira and I worked really hard on this, and we had a lot of fun with the process. We are so appreciative of our producer on the song, Simon Eugene, who really his effort and time and passion into the project, as well as Jona Kuck, who created a really cool 'rising' intro out of a piece of the song. AND we are very grateful for the dedication and patience of Sam at Avid Beats @avidbeats who did great work in editing the final mix, as well as mastering it~

Emerald Days

'Crystal Kinda Girl' is an uplifting, warm, and sweet folk-pop ballad about the feeling when you meet someone who takes you out of the ordinary grind of life, and shows you how to REALLY LIVE ~ those people we meet who demonstrate a kind of presence and grace that can open us up to a whole new way of meeting life - the kind of folks who catalyze us to see the world with new eyes, and unlock doors to extraordinary changes in our perception and new possibilities in how we engage with life.

This is a special song for us, because it’s the first song Ira and I wrote together in November of 2023, after starting to co-write with one another.  This song was a blast to create - Ira and I really put our heart, and ourselves, into it.  CKG was Ira’s original song concept, and we each ended up writing about 50% of the lyrics.  I took lead vocal duties, and we asked Daniel Sitch to come on as a featured vocalist.  Nir Tsfaty, in Melbourne, produced the song, and arranged the strings.  It is also Nir’s guitar work featured on the song.  

It was a great pleasure for us to work with Nir Tsfaty on the production of this song - Nir put a great deal of thought and care into every phase of the project, and he created some beautiful BG guitar parts and lovely strings parts as well.  We were very happy with the final track - and so appreciative of Nir’s work to breathe life into our song!

We were totally thrilled with the effort Daniel put it to his vocals, and we feel that his sincerity, energy, & passion really shines through and elevates several key areas of the song.  Thank you Daniel!

Also, we owe an additional thanks to Dan Dubois at Schematic Sound for his excellent mastering work on the track.

Crystal Kinda Girl (feat. Daniel Sitch)

~ Warm, vibrant Indie Folk-Pop meets vintage soft prog rock ~

  “Lights of Egan” are an independent singer-songwriter duo, made up of Cameron DeVries and Ira Denis, who blend intimate, soaring indie folk-pop with vintage soft prog rock.  Relying on earnest, heartfelt lyrics, soulful melodies, and expansive soundscapes, this music is warm, uplifting, and sincere; with songs that cut right to the soul of things, bringing listeners into territories of wonder, joy, and emotional warmth & depth.  This is music written to express authentic feelings, to bring the heart back to life, and to reach places within where old wounds can be revitalized.

 The music of Lights of Egan has been described as “Donovan meets Cat Stevens”, and “like a mix of some prog rock bands from the 70s, such as Caravan, and some indy bands like Field Report.”  Listeners have called it “ethereal”; and, a “70s throwback sound in a good way”.  
 
  Ira and Cameron met through SongTown.com in 2023, and immediately formed a connection through music.  They shared a lot of musical common ground, and had similar inclinations in the style of music they wanted to make.  The collaboration started when Ira answered Cameron’s post in a co-writing forum on SongTown.com, where he was looking for co-writers.  Ira shared some lyrics, and Cameron almost immediately began working to put the lyrics of one of Ira’s song ideas to music.  

  After their first song was done, they began working on another song together; and, after the second song was done, they later started working on a third song, and then a fourth.  After beginning to record the songs they’d written together, they settled upon the project name “Lights of Egan”, meant to reflect the earnest, heartfelt, and inspired nature of the songs.  Ultimately, Ira and Cameron feel that the songs they’ve written together are some of the best work each of them have done in their songwriting careers.  

  We are releasing our first single on January 24th, 2025.
