I sometimes have the comment that the title is extremely bleak and pessimistic or psychopathic even. I assume some interpret to say 'love doesn't exist'.
Can give a description, bearing in mind i wrote the song and title when i was 15:
-i was into stuff like the 'mood machine' in phillip k dick, eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, and some rudimentary interpretation of Jean Baudrillard: simulation and hyperreality....possibly seeping through some Brave New World and Situationism i may read after the fact.
-its anti capitalist/situationist, but really its a science fiction thought experiment. Some say it would be fine if corporations simply considered love for their fellow human. That ends in a dystopia, a simulation, a point where you just buy experiences you've missed...why? because they are still corporations, love must be self-determined and real. Corporations advertising their positive ethics selectively is manipulation. Corporations commodifying positive experiences, under our acceptance that it might be 'enriching' is totalitarianism, Love as difference, a measure of intensity, is narcissistic desire and solipsism only.

Jazzmaster through a Vox AC30cc1, starting out with bypass tone and playing around with all the possible combinations of modes.
Micced with an MD421 into a Zoom R16

The Fauna starts as a modified Rat, using classic LM308 chip but with germanium/mosfet, transistor-only, and LED clipping. From there various switchable modes improve the filter, frequency response and second mode for amp-like (more TS808  but still definitely Rat) tone... It gets pretty heavy, bassy, with all the mods up and generally seeks to 'improve' upon the common complaints of the rat in NEW ways i've not seen done before, all whilst retaining the possibility of a classic harsh-in-a-good-way germanium or LED styled Rat sound.

Volume was matched to bypass signal just for practical recording: there is actually heaps on tap!

Fauna guitar overdrive/distortion

Demo on my jazz bass through an ampeg portaflex micced up through an MD421 into a Zoom r16. 
Second half is my jazzmaster into an AC30cc1. 
Just trying as many combinations as possible! oh and its all in drop C.
The VOID is a guitar or bass fuzz pedal inspired by doom and drone metal, and able to dial various tones from Sunn o))) to Sabbath to getting quite shoegaze. 

Its a VERY modified fuzz face (that sounds nothing like one!) into a Sunn Model T tone stack, featuring a second mode for mis-biased synth tones that swell, buzz and generally create fat mayhem. Also an attack control tames the gain whilst offering different tones to a standard gain control by filtering the high frequencies.


Volume was matched to bypass signal just for practical recording: there is actually heaps on tap! (the Void was set around 1/10 to 2/10 for this demo!)

OMNI is an extension from the VOID, another pedal I've created. [LINK]
It continues that aesthetic as more of a deluxe version, and expands the scope of being a lead guitar pedal rather
 than primarily excelling on bass.
The basic circuit layout (similar to a meathead/fuzzface) is further modified to allow more saturation on tap, 
     controlled by GAIN which provides a range of attack, whilst always remaining heavily saturated.
The Sunn Model-T tonestack is extended to include presence and mids inspired by the same model.
PRESCENCE allows darker territories to be explored and even enhances the bass at lower settings.
MIDS subtly brings back the ability of the sound to cut through in live situations, as well as affecting timbre towards
     either a slicing or rounder tone.
MODE: like the void, this is a similar synth style sound. However BIAS controls it's basic wave shape (only activated in
                                    second mode).
            Brassy timbres, or gated saw waves are available, which interact heavily with the gain knob to also produce more
                 'standard' heavy tones (albeit diffferent to mode 1).
Feedback is an experimental mode which transforms the pedal into lofi vibrato/tremolo, produces deep sub drones, 
                    and becomes a tone generator producing controllable pitches and chirps. Its relation is little to do with
                 the sounds of the main distortion, however would be very useful in a drone/doom soundscape or noise 
                        breakdown.
                  Play with all the knobs, put them where you least expect, including the volume when feedback is engaged!

A Superfuzz clone!
The weird octave fuzz you probably know about if you visited this listing!
A few alterations have been made, such as a volume boost, and matching component values to enhance it's character.

Two extra modes are included on a 3 way switch:
   -8ve is the standard superfuzz, producing unusual harmonics between chords but creating a clear octave on single 
             pitches.
   -Normal disengages one transistor to turn off the octave effect. This is still a heavy tone, but focused on the fundamental
            chords get less screwed up (in that cool superfuzz way) which is definitely useful for some passages in music!
   -Feedback. This is one of oddest and most pleasing experiments with feedback loops.
                  Controls bring out endless options.
               Random noise generator, down octave, random pitch shifter, synthesiser etc...
                 It becomes a whole new instrument in itself!

Dual fuzz shin ei companion original synth fuzz design.

Dual fuzz in a single enclosure. On/Off for sections A and B, Tone switch (post-effect), Order switch.

Side A:

A basic Shin Ei companion. As used by the likes of radiohead's colin greenwood.
    The tone seciont however can be controlled by another switch.


Side B: 

Original synth fuzz. Turn your guitar into a moog brass instrument...

Combinations of these two fuzzes produce more synth 'waves' +more heavy tones, and there is a lot to explore.
Order switch produces a lot of variation.
Some settings creating more glitching tones.

Tone switch disengages the 'scoop' from the companion tone circuit, so there is no tonal filtering after the fuzzes.
  (much like the switch on a superfuzz.)
