As a consumer, I never really thought about what I could do to support the artists that I liked. Since I’ve started creating and distributing my music, I’ve gained a lot of appreciation for those little things I can do to help other artists. Especially during a pandemic. Things like:

Pre-saving: These links are a huge help. The more people pre-save a song before it’s release, the higher the chance that Spotify will place it on it’s main playlists, which means a lot of people will stream it. This is definitely a home run for the artist. 

Subscribing to Youtube Channel: Youtube won’t pay a content creator until they reach a minimum amount of subscribers and hours streamed. Subscribing helps your favourite artists get closer to their goal, and to start making a bit of money off Youtube. It also helps you keep track of their new content. 

Following on Social Media: For obvious reasons... the bigger the following, the more “reach” their exposure will have. 

Sharing Posts: This is probably what helps the artist the most in growing their social media, but also getting their music known. Hey, you could be the one that sent them a “gem” that you found before it became really popular!


All of this is free for you and takes virtually no time at all, and it’ll mean a great deal. For anyone willing to do any of the above for me, I sincerely appreciate it. 


Now! Let’s talk about the track...


Somatic. This one is a reflection of where I am in my music creation process. While I’ve been a musician (not professionally) since I was 6 years-old, I’ve only started producing electronic music since 2020. When I first started, and got the hang of it, it was amazing (it still is, but it was even more-so at first). Think of it like this: Imagine you’re in a really good mood, there’s nobody else around, a good tune is playing, you start singing as loud as you can. You know all of the words, you know how the song goes, so you’re belting it out. Now imagine that instead of your voice that comes out when you sing, it’s actually dozens of voices. That’s the feeling you get when you go from creating music on a single instrument, to doing it electronically. 

Problem is, I was all over the place. Not only could I use any number of instruments, but I could create music of so many different genres. The ones I wanted to focus on the most were Old School House, Progressive House, Deep House, Techno, Trance, and combinations of some of those. The production and the sound is very different between genres. Think about a song from Martin Garrix and then a song from Kygo. They’re both electronic music, but very different genres.  As I was coming up with all of these awesome chords, melodies and sounds, I went a bit too far, and added a few too many layers to some of my tracks. So this time, I practiced some restraint. The thing that I learned and that I appreciate the most about this track is that by simplifying it, the elements come out clearer, and better. I hope you enjoy it!

This is different from most of my music because this is softer and relaxing. It's a single for my album named Lost Sunrise. It's meant for meditating, reading, sleeping, and for people who are having a hard time with COVID-19 so they can just relax. The meaning behind it is that because of covid, we are stuck in the night where it’s dark and cold and not somewhere we want to stay in. The sunrise (end of the virus) was supposed to come, but it got lost, so we are stuck in a covid world until the sunrise finds us.
