Recording of the opening ceremony of the "Exile" Survival Art Exhibition:
Life originates from volcanic eruptions and flows towards the ocean.

Unrestrained flowing.

Letting go.

Transmitted through liquid.

Exile is the path we choose, embracing it with open arms. Situated at the heart of a beach pine forest, it is a place filled with charm, freedom, and inspiration. We have erected our own hidden tents, serving as a temporary and permanent refuge, where we flow uninhibitedly. The sound of crashing waves and the dappled sunlight through the tribe's pine needles provide the perfect backdrop for our creations. We connect with others who share the same passion.

We have a common bond.

Each person brings unique symbols.

We exist naturally within miracles.

Having included this track among his favourites of 2016 on the last day of the year Huey Morgan also provided the UK national radio debut on BBC 6 Music followed by a hat trick of spins from Gideon Coe. Kara Manning broadcasted the US radio premiere courtesy of WFUV, New York.

Something Gives is a timely vehicle for the keen eloquence of James Baldwin whose voice, along with that of the wonderful Alice Walker, is the basis of the track.

We've been feeling urgently compelled to respond somehow to the heavy sociopolitical escalations of late on both sides of the pond. This release is our way of bridging the distances & expressing universal solidarity as human beings. Musically the tune bears similarities to A Tribe Called Quest's jazzy hip hop vibes and Arthur Verocai's Brazilian way of joy and despair all at once.

All music written, arranged, performed, engineered, produced & mixed by Seth Mowshowitz apart from tenor saxophone arranged and performed by Emma Johnson.

This one's not a jazz track, but I can't get it out of my head right now.
Recently re-released on Colemine Records, by The Flying Stars Of Brooklyn NY.
I've extended the intro and far too short break, and added a few tweaks to increase the playing time.
Also had to add some wise words from Herbie Hancock at the beginning to get round the copyright filter.

Making of: This track was produced and conceptualized during a self-booked tour in 2019 where I filled my backpack with 2 pairs of clothes and all the electronic and live instruments that would fit inside and set-off on a 3 month journey going town to town through Guatemala and Mexico booking my own gigs along the way through word of mouth and just showing up and being present. I received a tip to head to Mazunte during my tour which unveiled a special and deep connection with the musicians and culture that exist there. I began to play more and more shows with the locals and visited the coast, "punta cometa", or point of the comets. There, with some beautiful friends I met, recorded the sounds of the ocean joining together and exploding off of the cliff-side, the air, and objects like sticks and stones I found from the region. On one special moment I was with my friend Claudia. We were playing in the sand and we stumbled upon a burial site of a giant turtle. There we said a small prayer and played a simple beat with some sticks on the turtle shell. The recording of that turtle shell is the foundation groove that is buried in the track, as the beautiful turtle was buried in the sand, joining again with nature and eventually the ebbing tides. The final touches made the entire track come to life when I joined with some incredible humans and artists that I met while exploring the coast. I set up my makeshift studio in a small concrete bungalow just outside of the city and with the deep, mysterious, and divine voice of Blythe Gruda and her magical lyric books streaming intrinsic consciousness, and the smooth sensual vibes of the flute and alto sax from Aric Gutnick, the track was born..and the journey continues...
