'The original track is a high-energy progressive synth-driven track with an epic vocal. The remix takes the original into a solid tech house groove ready for the floors.

Following a string of strong releases and support from BBC Introducing dance, Future Self is joined by Bristol Based vocalist Jamie Jamal and Waifs & Strays for the 5th release on Self Control Records. Representing a collaboration that brings together like minded creatives who shared the same passion and had something they needed to share after a year of lockdown.

The original track features deep and heavy synth work, an almost progressive edge to its arrangement which walks the line between more classic sounds and thoroughly modern ideas. Combining a club ready rhythmic back bone that will get any room moving and heavy melodics that work with Jamie's stand out vocals to create a dark but inviting mix of vibes.

Waifs & Strays came on board to provide their usual top class re-imagination of the track, a sure fire Tech House monster that works with the synthy, melodic nature of the original to hit it out of the park.

Releasing this July on Self Control Records, this record is a new high water mark for the label and a sign of things to come.'

The artist name of this talented lady from Ukraine could also be written on the hull of a shimmering spaceship - S.ONE. Her sound lives up to the scenario in which such a cosmic vessel is usually found, as well: Endless depth, the psychedelic colours of spiral nebulae in the darkness, rifts and ripples in the texture of time and space. For the remix of 'Xenogenesis', Add-Us joined the mission and delivered their very own take on cosmic Melodic Techno, introducing cinematic pad sounds and tectonic bass frequencies to the original.

Existence is a shimmering melodic house trip to the stars. The chords are lush and the beats deep, and the whole thing casts a fine spell on all who hear it.

Continuing a strong summer season, Madloch’s Sound Avenue imprint presents new interpretations of Nopi’s ‘Flatter’. Originally released in October of 2020 as part of the Ukrainian’s well received ‘Where to Go’ EP, the creation rounded out the collection on the strength of Sarah Chilanti’s dreamy vocals and a delicate piano top line. Now bringing new life to the much loved track, Sound Avenue invites Dmitry Molosh, about:river and GastoM to provide their own interpretations for the summer season.

The first interpretation is provided by Dmitry Molosh who returns to the label for his fifth appearance. The Belarus based producer sits firmly in progressive music’s elite class of artists, showcasing his work via Cid Inc’s Replug Records, Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings and Guy Mantzur’s Plattenbank Records. As a mainstay in Beatport’s sales charts, Dmitry now makes a welcome return to Sound Avenue with a powerful rendition of ‘Flatter’. Beginning with warm beats and effervescent percussion, it’s the pulsating nature of the groove which becomes instantly compelling. Driving, chunky and full of great character, it anchors what is a cosmic slice of progressive house. Emerging melodies marry luminous tones across the first act, before a break of clustered arps and colourful tonal tension spearheads an electric drop and epic finale. 

Making their label debut and providing the second interpretation of ‘Flatter’ is about:river. The Ukrainian duo is a unique collaborative project between father and son. Their productions tell a dynamic and sometimes epic story that happens to be set in a dance-groove environment. Conceptualized by father Oleg in 2018, the following year saw his 12 year old son Ervin join the project. Initially a clarinet and keyboard player, Ervin quickly became a committed member of the project, contributing not only to live performances but also in the creative process, writing the main themes of their musical creations. Now with releases via Proton’s Particles and Nie Wieder Schlafen, about:river makes their Sound Avenue debut with a gorgeous take on ‘Flatter’. From a deeper vision, the duo draws on the sensibilities of the original, utilizing Sarah’s emotive vocals over a bed of organic breakbeats, exotic percussion and creamy pianos. Placid pads and whimsical arps emerge across the seven-minute excursion, setting the scene for a heartfelt conclusion. 

Also making his label debut and providing the final interpretation of ‘Flatter’ is GastoM. Born in Mendoza and now based in Buenos Aires, the Argentinean artist fuses elements of organic and progressive house, along with live recordings of instruments and drums for a sound that is all his own. A recent remix of MartyOn & JörgK via label subsidiary 3rd Avenue has proved to be a discography highlight, immediately rising to the number one position in his Beatport best sellers just one month following the release. Now stepping up to parent label Sound Avenue, GastoM makes his debut on the much-loved Belgian imprint with a groovy interpretation of ‘Flatter’.

Opening up the month of September in style, Astral Records presents the first installment of their Celestial' series. These VA collections will stretch across the globe searching out the finest untapped talent along with industry veterans. In the deepest stratum of the neon-scarred city, where sunlight was a forgotten myth and the only stars were faulty LEDs glitching on crumbling facades, lay the sanctum of Lyra. She wasn't a DJ in the conventional sense; she was a sonic weaver, a conduit for frequencies that skirted the edges of perception, broadcast from a studio that felt more like an ancient oracle's cave retrofitted with forbidden technology. Her face, often half-shrouded by the hood she perpetually wore, was a canvas of subtle defiance: a constellation of freckles across her nose and cheeks, the sharp glint of a septum ring, the deliberate ink that marked her skin like cryptic sigils – one tracing a stark line on her forehead, others coiling around her neck and disappearing beneath her dark attire. But it was her eyes that held the true enigma: a searing, luminous amber that seemed to absorb the dim, flickering light of her monitors and reflect something far older, far more knowing.

Tonight, Lyra was on the verge of a new transmission. Her studio, a chaotic yet meticulously organized nest of wires, vintage synthesizers, and custom-built sonic devices, hummed with latent power. The air was cold, smelling of ozone and old circuits. Her gloved fingers, thin and precise, hovered over a complex interface, its surface alive with pulsating glyphs only she understood. She wasn't preparing for a crowd; her audience was the void, the unseen listeners who stumbled upon her broadcasts like digital castaways finding an uncharted island. Her music was an acquired taste, a challenging journey into the obsidian depths of techno – tracks that were less about dance floor euphoria and more about introspective, almost ritualistic immersion.

The foundation of her sound was a relentless, hypnotic pulse, a heartbeat for a world teetering on the brink. Upon this, she layered textures of granular static that sounded like dying stars, sub-bass frequencies that vibrated the very marrow of one's bones, and shards of melody that were both beautiful and unsettling, like fragments of a forgotten, mournful song. Her tattoos, it was whispered among the few who had ever glimpsed her, were not merely decorative. They were claimed to be resonant circuits, amplifiers of the strange energies she channeled, allowing her to perceive and manipulate sounds beyond the normal human range. Her amber eyes, some speculated, were cybernetic enhancements, granting her the ability to see the very architecture of sound waves.
