Meticulous music maker, Malive, continues to embrace his diversity, combining two intimate recordings on the newly formed HUGS imprint.

Hailing from Sao Paulo, Malive has graced the halls of standout labels including Noizu’s Techne, Shiba San’s Basement Leak, Box Of Cats and Tchami’s Confession imprint where he collaborated with HUGS inaugural artist Bruno Furlan, picking up support across his catalogue from the likes of Diplo, Tough Love, KLP, The Aston Shuffle and more.

For his next number, Malive joins forces with UK singer/songwriter ‘Burlington’ for his finely crafted ‘Shelf EP’, leading things off with the title track of the same name - an honest and upfront love story of vulnerability and self-worth showcased via a deep and alluring house record.

Switching up the moods, Malive takes things to the club and goes deeper on the b-side with ’Team Up’. Travelling to both ends of the spectrum, this charismatic two-track number displays the versatility and talent of one of Brazil’s most exciting exports!

Two brothers born on opposite sides of the world, coming together to make music. A tale you think you’ve heard before, but not quite like this. This was a relationship born over a single word, never to be spoken nor written, nor even sketched. But somehow this word became the mystical thread that brought these two beat-wizards together. If you must know what this word is you’ll have to ask them yourselves, but we hear Voldemort won't even go near this one.

After that brief history lesson, let's get to the music! These two savage men have joined forces on what can only be described as a Funky & Chunky joint effort. Big-ass bass, phat-ass kicks, and dirty-ass hats combined around a hooky vocal and snappy breakbeats make this the thickest booty you’re gonna drop this week. Wongo & Tony told us they used a sledgehammer and a bowl of jelly as inspiration, and somehow that kinda makes sense...

We’re very excited to have our guy @myShdws back on @nightbassrecords with his new single ‘Es Ami’. A one-two punch gets the track rolling along followed by a textured bassline so fat, insane results on the dancefloor are to be prepared for.

A true music producer’s talents can be likened to the deep depths of the ocean floors, home to undiscovered creatures and sounds that no one has heard before. Here at BoC we picture a twelve-legged octopus screaming under a beat, or the squelchy sound of a three-eyed fish farting out hi-hats. The brains and ears of every producer are completely different and forever unexplored until they are created and put out into the world. Wow, that was deep (no pun intended).

This is the kind of energy that Haelix has brought forward for his first full release with us. Both records give us a sense of familiarity but at the same time splatter us with curiosity and complex emotions. Far Away definitely gives you the feeling of a dance floor on the bottom of the Great Barrier Reef, full of bass-face fish and rave coral dressed in black, locked in and ready for an underwater afters. On the other hand Close Up is really a journey from beginning to end. When we listen to this we picture the creation of the ocean itself - beautiful leads, vocals and melodies swell and break around a solid beat and warping bass.

These records are really special and paint a lovely picture of how deep a producer can go when writing something that would still fit on a label like Box of Cats. The question for us is, how deep does this one take you? This is Haelix!
