This was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0628: Alchemical Brothers

Here’s a copy of my post on the Disquiet Junto 0628 discussion thread:

Here is my interpretation of the third separation stage of the alchemical process. After reading articles and essays online, I understood this part as being a purification, filtering and cleansing stage. I tried to convey those points with an ambient piece that has a reflective and meditative feel. 

This was created on an ALM 3U 52hp modular skiff with the following: Jasmine and Olive Trees Water sequencer, clocked by DivKid’s OCHD, is quantized through Intellijel Scales to CalSynths Rangoon (MI Rings clone), then to Qu-Bit Nautilus delay. Modulation by OCHD and 2 VCA. An additional track was added in Ableton Live using Slate+Ash Choreographs. Effects used were Transit by Baby Audio and Valhalla Supermassive reverb. Warning for those not into the “Rings into Clouds” modular vibe – this sounds similar! 🙂

Lucid Air Around Our Heads [disquiet0628]

a sequence of fourteen tracks based on borges' short story "the writing of the god", in which a prisoner becomes obsessed with the idea that fourteen sacred words are encoded in the fur of an animal (jaguar - tigre).

i explore the idea of encoded meanings by variously deploying 7/8 time signatures, percussion playing the track titles in morse code, granulated voices, duration (14 x 14 = 196 = 3m16s), resampling, feedback, and other less immediate means...
