Things are finally warming up on the cape! Show #012 brings more heat with a mix from a multi-talented Philly DJ/producer. DJ lil’dave (@lildave215 )is a Philadelphia based producer, composer, radio host, and member of DJ crew @illvibe-collective who has made a name for himself by exposing people to soulful music in all its forms. He produces and hosts a music focused podcast called Excellent Reception. Also, he has been broadcasting for over 25 year on radio station WKDU 91.7FM, where he currently hosts the internationally known Eavesdrop Radio along with DJ Junior. As a recording artist, he has released original music and remixes under various aliases for record labels around the world, such as BBE Records, Tru Thoughts, and Bastard Jazz.

DJ Apt One is known as one who is and has been on the forefront of many important movements in dance music over the last ten years.  He was a part of the multi-genre style of DJing that catapulted his adopted Philadelphia to the pinnacle of the DJ world in the early 2000s.  As a part of the duo RCMP, his work foreshadowed the emergence of Nu-Disco before the genre even had a name.  He is an internationally renowned edit-maker, appearing on compilations alongside the likes of Todd Terje.  Now, he is one of the OGs of "Moombahton" -  the polyglot global EDM movement that saw DJ Apt One find fame on the BBC, NPR and elsewhere along with pioneers Dave Nada, DJ Sabo, Dillon Francis and more.

He is also a founder of Young Robots Records.

This EP is the first fully instrumentated Moombahton record - with live bass, drums, horns and guitar to go with stylized latin house drum programming.  The title track, originally from DJ Sabo's Moombahton Massive 3 EP on Sol Selectas, was one of the  hits in the first wave of Moombahton.  DJ Apt One adds a b-side called "Red Meat" that came as a byproduct of his work with Gregor Salto's Downpitch label.

DJ Apt One provides remixes of both of his tracks, and lil'dave of Philly's legendary Illvibe Collective provides a Latin House grooved remix that reminds people why Illvibe are Philly's formost funk ambassadors.  DC's Vjuan Allure, one of the rising stars of the Ballroom sound (see: Mike Q) provides a jackin remix as well.

Say the name 'lil'dave' and an ingenue of class and aural distinction comes to mind. lil'dave channels the far reaches of the soul, all the while effortlessly combining taste, groove, and appeal with today's technology. Although his roots are in hip-hop, lil'dave is most widely known for his electronic escapades through house, broken beat, brazilia, acid jazz, funk and UK-inspired soul and rare groove. Through these genres, lil'dave defines his signature sound.

On any given day, lil'dave can be found behind the boards producing, in the crates digging, at the beats grinding, at the turntables creating. With demeanor calm and levels tuned, lil'dave brings crowds to a fever pitch, leaving them parched for more. He takes great delight in pleasing his treasured following and making them happy through the power of DJing.

Whether it be through showcasing rarefied gems on his legendary radio program (Eavesdrop Radio) or providing sonic leaflets as 1/6 of the multifaceted Illvibe Collective, lil'dave has the talent, drive, and the penchant for the art of moving butts.
