Eliza regained consciousness on November 25, 2003. Both of her parents were immediately notified but only her father came to see her in the lab. Her mother stayed at the family home. Eliza had been officially "resurrected" on August 23, but only her brain could function. For the first four weeks after waking up, she wasn't receptive and was paralyzed from the neck down. She would gradually regain mobility in her entire body by March of the following year, but never in her left foot.

She often thanked the nurses and scientists for helping her get better. She worked well with them and excelled in most of the tests and procedures they did on her, except for those that involved balance and enduring cold temperatures.

"She'll be ready to leave the lab by mid-May," says one of the nurses. "Lately she's been saying that she really wants to see her little brother. We raised our eyebrows at that, 'cause she only has two sisters. She says her brother's name is E and that he's four years younger than her. She talked to him while she was asleep."

Records show no evidence of an E Jamison being born in 1984 in the United States, or even at all. There were no E Jamisons enrolled in a school of any kind. The only proof of someone with that name living in the US was Eliza's grandfather, who has no verifiable birth certificate but does have a New York ID and driver's license, neither of which has been updated since 1978.

When we asked about someone named E in the family, Eliza's father looked at us like we were crazy. He said he never had a son, and his father's name wasn't really E; he changed his name when moving to America. He was unable to recall his father's birth name. Eliza's mother provided no comment.

East Sim was struck by an EF5 tornado while Eliza was asleep. She remains determined to find housing nearby, despite the city's struggles to recover. She insists on staying near the lab rather than returning to her family home against her father's wishes. She avoids answering the question whenever asked why.
