Scored for a short promotional video of the game DNF, as part of my demo for Shenzhen's Cannes, London International Awards, and Top-Digital award-winning ad agency Dotwell Culture Co., Ltd. This sequence depicts a character from DNF visiting Wuhan city, as the fantasy world of the game merges with the real world as we know it.

Natura Morta

My Bones is a work for oboe and electronics centered around a single zura sample and it’s relationship to the modern oboe. The zurna or zourna is a double reed woodwind instrument native to much of the Middle East and Greece, and is most often used in folk music or religious/martial ceremonies. It is also thought to be the immediate predecessor to the shawm. The original source file belongs to a record of Greek folk arrangements, with the title Kemiklerim – translating to My Bones from Turkish.
The piece can be broken down into three sections: Enter—Shuffle—Moan. Enter opens with a monstrously augmented Zourna canon, Shuffle moves into a cadenza comprised of gestures from the previous section, and Moan uses pitch manipulation to create a collective chorus of calls and moans.

Wrest deals intimately with the liminality of the unconscious, and specifically with how the mind moves through stages of unconsciousness fluidly and with a kind of inexorable and invisible momentum. It’s a piece about the way we drift through these liminal spaces as we sleep — and the things that we carry with us without understanding why. It’s also an in memoriam, of sorts, to my grandmother Elizabeth Ann Greenhoe, who died in the summer of 2017 and whose life and death impacted me profoundly.
