Dispatches from the NYC underground: left field electronics, raw live cuts, unreleased gems and other oddities selected by the Lost Soul Enterprises crew and extended family, this week featuring Heidi Sabertooth and Sweater on Polo. NYC-based singer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ and producer Heidi Sabertooth has a serious love for hardware. She's been creating her unique brand of grit-laced drum loops and vintage acid machine music since 2012, pushing out beautiful noise, from the delicate to the jarring. Her highly lauded live hardware performances and vinyl-heavy dj sets have cemented her own place among NYC’s techno community and beyond. Sweater On Polo’s music foregrounds the hardware, with a livewire, straight-out-the-box energy that cannot be denied. As both a live artist and DJ, he’s going in on a tight, Chicago-informed approach. But this is no retro trip; Sweater on Polo incorporates his influences and makes them his own.

Kicking off the new year we have a mix by Davide Gualandi, who resides in Brooklyn, NY. While we don't know too much about him, he presented us with this mix and well, it's pretty damn good, so we figured why not get it out there. It's nice mix of modern soundscapes and current electronics which are very focused and put together with a steady precise pacing. The legendary modular synthesist behind 2020’s Agalma and a number of incredibly influential works as a member of Coil and Psychic TV, Drew McDowall delivers an hour-long mix of oneiric soundscapes. Much in the style and voice of McDowall’s recent releases on Dais Records, his mix moves with the measured pace of a dream-like wander through some of the finest ambient and experimental productions of 2020, from the funereal melancholia of Faten Kanaan, through the crestfallen tundras of William Basinski and into the icy pop whispers of Eartheater.
