Hot Take: Lil Pump turned the evolution of rap on its face. people tend to forget he was FIFTEEN when this song came out, I think they were still in school (or they just dropped out) if I'm not mistaken. they took a risk, but a calculated one. Rap was kind of in a lull at this point, Drake was probably the most popular, you had Future, DJ Khaled, but it was very Radio dominant, there wasn't a lot of rappers just saying complete nonsense that was funny for about a minute and a half, cussing throughout. they made it their persona, they did the interview with No Jumper when that was starting to gain traction, they did songs with Ski mask STG, Xxxtentaction, and other rappers from that area in Florida, they influenced rap more than people want to admit
