Let's go Dancing

Taking their detailed production sound to an increasing variety of sounds, 16 Bit Lolitas have marked themselves out as serious talents in the worlds of tech-house and techno through their Bits & Pieces label.
Now on the label’s 15th outing, the Dutch duo lead with the hypnotic, funk-soldered techno jam ‘The Grynd’. 
Built on a deep, intense bassline, ‘The Grynd’ adds layer upon layer of groove before mutated funk guitars fire up the breakdown to devastating effect. A twisted dancefloor beast, ‘The Grynd’ should appeal to DJs across the house, tech-house and techno boundaries, such is the power of its hypnotic groove.   

Bringing a more experimental offering to the table, ‘Adventures’ is a unique and epic track that explores as many hidden avenues as its name suggests. A quirky tech-house groove kicks things off, before an array of shimmering, psychedelic sonics, hypnotic, processed vox and - eventually - stabbing deep trance riffs add colour and urgency to the track.

Simon Vuarambon, is a young producer born in Geneva, Switzerland who actually now lives in Argentina. The talented chap has released on Subtract and Flow amongst others, and has seen support from John Digweed, Guy J, Nick Warren and of course Hernan Cattaneo. 
This release shows Simons maturity and musical development as we kick off with the deep, hypnotic warm melodic layers of Bahia, interspersed with subtle effective percussion while the drop is dreamlike with a glowing wash of feelings. 
Pandora is next, with its understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along, while Simon manages to keep a hold on its energy, subtlety allowing the housey feel good mellow spirit too ooze out as though a liquid flowing over is soundscape. 
And to close we find Soulmates, the tougher and techier of the collection, interspersing some roomy glowing love, while some filtered stabs collide beautifully.

"Still..." Live from the Boulder Reservoir, Sep. 21, 2014

These last few years, I've observed a change in my personality transitioning from an extreme extrovert towards an introvert. I now find myself deriving energy by being alone rather than surrounded by people. It's a strange thing though, since as a DJ, I feel most alive when I'm on stage as the center of attention surrounded by people, which happens more now than it did before.

How can this contradiction exist?
Is a shift in personality correcting itself against a change in my behavior?
Or would this change have happened anyway?

These are questions I've been thinking about when putting this mix together. I don't know the answers to them, but maybe they are in this collection of songs I've put together. Hope you enjoy.

Blueshift - Still... (Recorded Live @ Boulder Reservoir, CO)

About Me:  Just a guy who enjoys subtlety, nuance, and progression in electronic music. 

Initially this mix was planned to be dark and heady. After making a handful of mixes and feeling the process to be a bit contrived I decided to take a more uplifting route for these 50 minutes. In its final form it contains some of my favorite records from this summer, as difficult to pare down as that was. 

Thanks to Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin for aiding in this endeavor. Oh, and the photo is from the Great Sand Dunes National Park here in Colorado.
