1918年生まれ、82歳で初リーダー作をリリース。わずか2枚のリーダーアルバムをリリースしたシカゴを拠点に活動したジャズピアニスト、ボブ・アクリの自身の名を冠したセカンドアルバム『ボブ・アクリ』が国内初CD化。
 
ジャズ・ピアノの王様、オスカー・ピーターソンのレギュラーベーシストとしても活動した名手ジョージ・ムラツ、カウント・ベイシー楽団での活動などで日本でも人気のあるフランク・ウエス、マンハッタン・ジャズ・クインテットのメンバーとしておなじみのルー・ソロフらとニューヨークにて録音されたアルバムです。
 
自動車事故で25歳の生涯の幕を閉じたクリフォード・ブラウンに捧げられた名バラード「クリフォードの想い出（I Remember Clifford）」、とてもリラックスした雰囲気が漂う楽曲『スリープ・アウェイ』は、幅広い層の音楽ファンにお勧めできる円熟の演奏が収められた珠玉の名曲。寄り添うように演奏する名手達によるジャズピアノの魅力が詰まっています。「ホワイ・ディド・アイ・チューズ・ユー」は、深海の中で美しく響くようなピアノの音色が柔らかな表情で綴られたソロピアノによる演奏。
